You should turn your experience into a book and get Mel Gibson to make a movie out of it. Very instructive.

Excellent idea. The title could "Invasion of Church Snatchers"

I was thinking more of the following example of how the Russians dealt with an ancient usurper:
...the so-called False Dimitri, who claimed to be the son of Ivan and acted almost as Terrible. Eventually Dimitri was killed, and his body was burned and the ashes shot through a cannon to make sure he was dead. A strong strain of skepticism runs through the Russian character.
I'd often heard that last part quoted as the Russians "fired his ashes in the direction of Poland, from whence he had come."

For some reason, I always imagined a small group of Russians standing around, listing to the fading echoes of the cannon when one of them turns to the others and asks "What do you think? Should that do it?" The others look around, nod their concensus, and head for home.

Extreme liberals -- their idea of free speech is free for them, nothing for everyone else.

One person, a member of the church who also was an ordained Presbyterian minister and psychologist with an active family counseling ministry, was on the schedule to speak for the straight community. His remarks were on one sheet of paper, and would take about four minutes to read. After 30 seconds, the priest cut him off.

"David, that's enough of that," he said. "We've heard all we need to hear. Sit down."

And thus ended the great debate. Free speech had been stifled. The forces of darkness had taken control of the church. Half an inch at a time.

It's getting easier and easier to discern the wheat from the tares IMHO

As several other people have commented, these people are parasites. They behave just like true parasites. Other people built the physical church structure and they leech onto their labor. Other have built the church's social structure and they creep into that. Yet more built up the church's endowment and they glom onto the endowment. They are ear mites.

Hello folks. I'm hearing condemnation of the Delphi Techique in several posts. For those of you that are not familiar with Delphi, the problem is not with the Delphi technique. Delphi is simply an anonymous discussion between and among "experts" in a particular discipline who are responding to a particular question. The term "Delphi" is meant to suggest that we are seeking the wisdom of the Oracles. The posters I am concered about are talking about abuses of Delphi in which the concerns of folks are snuffed out by the pronouncements of supposed experts. That's not how it's done when it's done right.

Why? Why not stand and fight? He was willing to fight for others rights in central America, but he can't stand up for his church here? The first church I can understand maybe, but now that he knows the signs of the "inch at a time" takeover why not be vigilant and nip it in the bud? Why not inform fellow church members what happened before and to be vigilant also?

REVELATION CHAPTER 18:
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

The forces of darkness had taken control of the church. Half an inch at a time.

That's usually the way evil works, a half inch at a time. The same technique is being used all over the country in most of our institutions, public and private.

It's called "tolerance", and the real cancer is it's actually a cloak for tolerance of sin, not minor differences of culture or style. If you can't tell the difference and don't care, you're OK. Of you can tell the difference and voice or act against it, you're a bigot or worse and must be silenced, overpowered and destroyed.

Satan is in the details, not the presentation.

"We joined an Episcopal church where the priest was "proud" of his reputation...."

First red flag.

Proverbs 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Ping to you Woahhs. You might find this article interesting.
