If Al-Qaeda is planning on setting up shop in Algeria, it may not work to their advantage. Algeria is a country in turmoil due to their civil war.

However, the Algerian security forces have a particularly brutal (and efficient) way of doing business with Islamo-fascists.

Last time I checked, tens of thousands of Algerians suspected of working for or with the Salafists or the Armed Islamic Group ended up dead or disappeared. This has happened since 1992.

The Algerian govt is really not big on prisoner rights or legal due process. I don't think they're gonna look to favorably toward more armed malcontents moving into their country.

Algeria. Oh great. French-run cesspool from hell. Yippee. The only bright spot about this is if we go in and drain the swamp we can make the French madder than ever (which is not without its charm). The learning curve is steep, and many Al Qaida will die before they realize setting up camps in isolated areas is just where we want them. As someone else pointed out. If they are so isolated, they can be taken out without anyone knowing it was us that took them out.
