If I recall correctly, the first thread up after the first plane hit the first tower, it was post three that said Osama Bin Laden.

For the record, the soonest I remember any "mainstream" news organization mentioning Bin Laden was after the SECOND plane hit; I believe it was Fox that said it first. Almost none were even willing to speculate about the possibility of terrorism at all before the second plane, and a number of news outlets didn't even mention OBL for five to ten minutes after the second plane, even though by then they were at least willing to entertain the possibility that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't a freak double accident. *rolling eyes*

Home from Thanksgiving at my brother's. I have been enjoying reading this thread. I haven't seen the entire speech yet, just clips on Fox.

My sister and bother who are democrats had NOTHING to say. HA! I am so proud of this guy I could bust! My husband said that he does things that sound like what people wish for in a perfect president.

Thanks to all who have given running commentary on the coverage! Football was on at my brother's home, and since he is a Packer's fan, one could not change the channel to news. (He didn't want to watch the news , anyway.) HAR!

We were on the Oregon Coast on 9/11 without Fox news and FR.

When I saw the second plane crash into the second tower, I woke my wife up and told her that terrorists had attacked NYC.

Then we heard about the Pentagon and the plane crashing Penn.. I said that confirmed my suspicions.

My wife just gave that look I get when she wants to say "Sure Jack!".

We basically were in a news blackout on the Oregon and California coast. When we finally got home late on the 12th. After we unloaded the car, she told me go fire up the computer and get FR on to find out what really happened.

When I read Catspaw reply, I yelled at her and said, "I told you so, and Free Republic has identified the group. They are al Qaeda under Ben Laden."

I got another one of those looks until it was confirmed later.

This and the news today is just another reason to be a monthly donor to Free Republic. We get the real news and the real analysis of the news here first.

In observance of the Muslim season of Ramadone - I'm doing slow cooked, steamed, smoked, PORK Crown Roasts...I considered a Honey Baked ham too, but I thought that would be too delectable for the taste buds. So I made sure there was plenty of ALCHOLIC beverages. Oh! My family and friends will join me in thanking our Supreme Being for the fact that we have paved roads,abundantly stocked groceries with tasteful, nutritious, carefully handled food. We have 99.9% dependable electricity, We have 99.9% health safe water at our tap. We have excessively efficient telecommunication. We are protected by the 2nd, 4th and 10th Amendments, this gives us confidence and proves that we are a free people.
