Leaked memo sparks cries of news media bias

Republicans say there is a double standard in the way the press has covered the story about internal Democratic memos that revealed the coziness between liberal interest groups and Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

While many newspaper and broadcast journalists have done stories about how the memos wound up in the Wall Street Journal and The Washington Times, few have covered the content of the memos.

This can't be pointed out enough. I find it incredible that most of the country is oblivious to the memo situation and what it means... and this oblivion is totally thanks to the mainstream liberal media.

and another bump, so I can follow.

I've seen the Intelligence Committe memo from this month, but somehow, I missed the others.

Many Judiciary Committee Republicans recalled this summer when a cache of internal documents purloined from the Republican Attorneys General Association wound up in the hands of Democrats on the committee. After being leaked to the Washington Post, the paper published an extensive story — one that was later corrected — based on the documents. Barely mentioned were the furious calls by Republicans that an investigation be made into how the documents were obtained.

Some Democrats on the committee defended the woman who took the documents as "a whistleblower." In the case of the leaked judiciary memos, Democrats have demanded an extensive investigation.

Bears repeating...over and over.
So instead of suspending the staffer (or whatever), why didn't the Republicans call turnabout fair play, and call our guy a "whistleblower"??

C'mon guys, get with the program! :::sigh:::

Yes. I've e-mailed the press (and recommend nicely others do the same) about this. I'd like to know who wrote the memos. That's the most interesting part. Who's the anti- American wanting to use intel info for political gain and who's the racist? I'd like to know!

Have a little bit more faith in the intelligence and common sence of the vast majority of the people in the USA!

It may cheer you to know that a very good friend of mine, who could have been accurately described as a reflexive Democrat, liberal, soccer mom in January of 2000, now proudly calls herself an Independent, is disgusted by the now obvious antics of the "media" and has progressed from just watching the news, to actively detesting Dan Rather and Peter Jennings!
If she had the inclination and time to spend on internet forums, she would eventually be deemed a "Bushbot".
Take heart, the tide has indeed turned!

Why thank you, that news did cheer me up :-)

I'll feel much more secure when Bush has been re-elected, though, and we have four more safe years to keep pulling the electorate further to the right!

The next four years are not going to be anything even remotely close too "safe", no matter who is POTUS.
Expect to endure the much dreaded state of martial law on the CONUS, sooner, rather than later.
This aint no drill.
It will get far worse, here at home, before it gets any better.
It would be a very serious mistake to assume otherwise.
President Bush did not lie when he said it would be a long, hard, struggle, but that we would eventually prevail.
We have barely started on the path of hard yet,we have not even dealt with longevity, and we have yet to entertain the issue and the true meaning of the struggle.

Because that would be a double-standard. Just because the Dems do it, that doesn't make it right for the Republicans to do it. They should investigate the leak, determine what laws were broken, and proceed from there. Sure, I'm glad these memos did get leaked, but you can't point out the double-standards of the Democrats while using double-standards yourself. I wouldn't call using Democrat tacticts "fair play".

Not so much the action of swiping the memos, but to call attention to the contents, which is the purpose of the tactic. The Dems aimed to take the focus off the theft, and onto the the goods (back then). I'm just so sick and tired of so many of our Senators saying "yes, you're right, we suck" whenever the Dems point the finger, rather than showing some cajones.

hard to believe that I missed those. Or maybe not, since the Press decided they aren't "news."
