Joe Conehead raises the Nazi slander once again while pretending to tut-tut it.
From what I hear, Prescott Bush probably wasn't a very nice guy. So what? Joe Kennedy wasn't a very nice guy either, and the press doesn't obsess about him very often.

Liberal invective against George W. Bush has not yet descended to the depths plumbed by conservatives in their crusade against the Clintons..... The very first sentence of this piece is patently false.

Liberals always call their opponents "Nazis."
Or "fascists."
The latest edition of the Southern Poverty Law Center's magazine lists the NRA as a "hate group."
And they don't like being told (the truth) that JFK and a few other of their liberal heros were/are members of that "hate" group. The truth to leftists is like kryptonite to Superman.

There are many unflattering terms that can and should be used to describe George W. Bush. He is, among other things, a truly bad President. But neither his offenses, nor the Republican Partys politics of personal destruction, can justify using such tactics against him. Why not say what makes him bad? Why not identify his offenses? Why not enumerate his use of "politics of personal destruction"?
Like Martin Sheen, who could not pass a college entrance exam (he has no degree) calling W "dumb"...of course W has degrees from Harvard and Yale.
Like so many liberals, they call people stupid or mean instead of attacking ideas, they attack people. It's the Clinton/McAuliffe way. It is and will continue to bury th democratic party. :0)

It's not an attempt to "dispel the smear". There's one name curious by its ommission.
For all the talk about the "Bush-run Union bank", Prescott Bush was only the manager and director (holding 1 of the 4000 shares). Policy would have been set by the majority shareholder(s). 3991 of 4000 shares held by E Roland Harriman, younger brother of W Averall Harriman.
And it was W.A. Harriman & Co. which formed the Union Bank with Thyssen in 1924.
W Averall Harriman:
FDR's Ambassador to the USSR
Truman's Ambassador to the UK
Truman's Secretary of Commerce and national secutity advisor
Democratic Governor of New York
Candiddate for Demcratic Presidential nomination
Kennedy State Department
Johnson Ambassador

What also needs to mentioned is how many icons on the left were in bed with the Soviets and friendly with Stalin. Of course liberals just scream McCarthyism when they hear these allegations. But let us not forget the fact that many liberals looked at the Soviet Union as a noble experiment during the time of Stalin. They were spewing this garbage, while Stalin killed millions of his own people.

Funny. Not one word about the documented collaboration between Ted Kennedy's father and Hitler... Read it again.

The latest edition of the Southern Poverty Law Center's magazine lists the NRA as a "hate group." Are you $hitting me??? I'm no fan of the NRA, but calling it a "hate group" is a bit extreme!

And it was W.A. Harriman & Co. which formed the Union Bank with Thyssen in 1924. Was Pamela Harriman from this Harriman family? Wasn't she Clinton's ambassador to France?

Joe Conason is a liberal Clinton apologist. So it's thoughtful of him to denounce some of his allies in this way. Perhaps he fears the attacks will backfire, but I still think people should give credit where it is due.
To: Ann Archy
Yes, Joe Conason is not only a POS, he's a fetid, steaming pile thereof.
In this effort, he manfully tries to warn his more enthusiastic contemporaries away from going overboard, but like a schoolmaster with a student body full of Touretz Syndrome Children, he will not succeed.
They are all going over the cliff.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Bush is a "truly bad president" only to left-wing nutjobs like Conason. If Bush irritates the hell out of socialist like Old Red Joe, that pleases me greatly. It's when creeps like Conason, Ivins, etal start liking Bush that I would worry.
