Houston Chronicle

A body was found in a vehicle that burned this morning, igniting a townhome fire in west Houston.

The blaze was reported about 4:30 a.m. at a condominium complex on the Katy Freeway near Beltway 8, said officials.

Firefighters said the blaze began in a vehicle in the complex's parking lot, then spread to several other vehicles and into the complex itself.

The body, about which no details are known, was found about 5 a.m. in one of the burned vehicles. An autopsy will determine the identity of the victim and the cause of the death.

Firefighters extinguished the fire about 6 a.m. Six units at the complex were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
