I tailor my message to my audience. I would think that the people here on FR understand this to a greater degree than most people and I don't have to explain it to them like children.

Does it scare you to hear this kind of talk? I'm sure that a lot of colonists were scared too during the time of our Founders.

I'm not comparing myself to them. I am saying that we are dealing with a lot more government than they even dreamed of. They'd be spinning in their graves if they could see how we accept government intrusion in our lives and the taxation that we pay. That toleration won't last forever.

Reality doesn't scare me at all and that reality is that your rhetoric turns the majority of the American people off. That's the way it is. Your rhetoric warms the hearts of Schumer and Feinstein. You make their job easier.

There's a zot on FR of a woman talking about shaving her "bush" in the shower and laughing and crying and generally having a nervous breakdown and talking about how this could be the start of an anti-Bush movement across the country-- women who hate GWB can show the world how they feel by shaving their pubic area.

The more crazy GWB makes the left, the more ineffective they become. You have to be calm and calculating to win a fight. These people are berserk. We should encourage it.

"Your recollections are interesting and very thorough. Thanks!"

Okay, I confess. I can't take the pressure. My recollection was not complete. Do you know what one of the chief complaints that they had about Bush? Cheney?

That Bush admitted that he didn't read newspapers. Can you believe it?

I asked if they thought that the President should spend his day reading papers or be involved in decison making? I said that he probably gets an indepth briefing because of a lot of people are reading a lot of papers and condensing it all into a report for him each day. Now get this -- They said it is being filtered by his staff. I said, "Who do you want to filter it? Saddam Hussein? Are you serious?" They still think that the NYT has credibility.

Cheney's horrific sin? That he is taking a pension from Haliburton and it's not in a blind trust. I said, "My God, it's a pension. He earned it. Should he give it up?" Their reply was that he is already worth $400 million (or some such number). I said that the few hundred thousand that he gets in pension shouldn't make any difference. It's not stock or an investment. It's his retirement being paid to him.

They really are vitriolic. I guess that they aren't as nice as I gave them credit for, are they?

Thank you for the kind words.

I've never really seen people with such a hate-on as libs these days. After all, would they have begrudged Clinton his pension or found him lacking because he got his news from original source docs rather than the newspapers? Of course not. It's all about their seething hatred - so much so that they've lost all rationality.

Is the lesser of two evils not evil?

I am not sure what back-room machinations were used to get Bush Sr. the V.P. spot, but am certain that conservatives (real ones) hated GHWB and stopped his drive for the GOP nomination in 1980. Therein lies the reason Clinton was able to win the presidency with 43% of the vote, which is probably close to the percentage received by McGovern, Mondale and other Dem stalwarts.

I believe that we, the ones who worked to get Perot elected, are the ones who can righteously complain about the demons Clinton. Anyone who thinks Perot dropped out because of personal choice, that is, without being coerced, has no conception of what kind of person he was and never talked to the scores of people who worked for the man in the private sector and were ecstatic that a man of his character would choose to run for president.

Jr. has done far too many distasteful things and left far too many distasteful people in power, to ever earn my respect. It is not the "sins of the father", W has enough of his own sins. I will wholeheartedly agree that he is better than Algore, but that still does not make him palatable. Though I will vote for him over any or all of the 9 dwarves (but holding my nose).

I know.

As much as Bush angers me at times, when the left starts with their lying BS I have to defend him. I hate when that happens. Can't I just enjoy my own anger? LOL

"...As bad as x41 was, WE SURVIVED..."

Thanks for the post, and for the visit. I hope you meant X42! I, too, am quite disappointed with the present path. I have tried to think that they intend to "fix" things when they have enough votes in Congress, but things look sorrier every day.
I will hold my nose, and vote for W's reelection, but sure wish we had a true conservative to support! The gun issue IS important, but the whole "give away the future" thing, turns my stomach! Small g'umt? Where?
Thank you , Ronald Reagan!

"... I find your rhetoric of chucking out a political party you may agree with 50% for one you agree may agree with 10% somewhat perplexing."

Look at it this way. After years of being single you meet 2 women. You find that the first one cheats on you every day, steals from you every day, and kicks your dog every day.

The next gal is aware that you don't like a women who cheats, steals, or kicks your dog. So you start to date her and then you find out that she does indeed cheat on you every other day, steals from you every third day, and kicks your dog once a week. Damn, she is even better looking

Now what do you do? Do you dump her? She's better you know. Do you put up with someone who is less evil or do you dump this one too?

Is any politician perfect? Are you searching for your "perfect political world". Ain't gonna happen. It just amazes me when you guys get all in a tizzy about Bush and then basically say you don't care if a demo gets in, when you don't agree with the demo 95% of the time.

Well anyway as I said to Hank, send me a post card when you reach your destination called "perfect political world". Have a feeling I will be waiting by the mailbox a long time.

They started on our soldiers dying for Bush and oil and Halliburton, yada, yada, yada.

I was polled by phone about a week ago here in Louisiana. Some of the key questions were on the order of "what do you think of Dean?" There were also a bunch of questions about my opinion of big business starting with GM and then getting really focused on Halliburton and some TV ads they are apparently running (which I have not seen).

I thought at the time that the polling was sponsored by Dean's campaign, but it could have been WC.

One thing for sure they didn't get much encouragement from me.

Can one not expect a Republican to act like a Republica.

I do not recall saying that I do not care if a Dem gets elected. Nobody despises that particular bunch of misguided (to be kind) and deceitful miscreants more than I. But at least when the Democrats put it to us, we can point the finger directly at them, which is exactly what i expected to happen after I voted for W. and he won.

To say that I was disappointed is a major understatement. When Republicans do the work of the Dems, expanding government more and more, where can we lay the blame.

One actually only has to compomise a very few times on the issues that really matter, to find that, eureka!, one has been compromised.

Thanks for the report. I could never do that.

It is true they are beyond reason. I'm no Bush fan but the sheer lies and nonsense they cling to is quite disturbing.

There will be no reconciliation with the left, ever.
