[history]
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back on the campaign trail again this week, selling for his bonds plan. After five years of Gray Davis, who governed by holding his finger to the wind, it's good to see a governor out trying to build support for his program. The problem is that what Schwarzenegger is pushing isn't worth fighting for.

Schwarzenegger has linked his pass-the-buck bonds to a second proposal, which would place before voters in March a constitutional revision that would alter the state's existing spending cap in ways that would remove California's budget flexibility and invest the governor with virtually unlimited power. What is this second proposal?
I thought the Sac Bee was in favor of more spending and taxing?
Guess I was just confused!

Apart from the $1.9 billion worth of midyear cuts in transportation, health, higher education, developmental services Schwarzenegger proposed last week, the new governor hasn't yet engaged in the real work he was elected to do. It is on framing and selling those kinds of hard choices, ones that bring the budget toward balance, that Schwarzenegger should be using his communication skills. THIS from the Sacramento Bee? What the hell are they bitching about, a lack of targets?
I almost choked on my coffee. It must be a slow news day.

Have you heard anything about how taxes are flowing to Sac these day. In talking to a few local merchants and shoppers here in Eureka, Friday was a great day but Sat, Sun and Mon were weak...

a constitutional revision that would alter the state's existing spending cap in ways that would remove California's budget flexibility and invest the governor with virtually unlimited power. Not exactly. The authorization Schwarzenegger seeks would allow the governor, under certain circumstances, in collusion with a minority in the legislature, to control the budget process.
Seems ideal under the present composition of the executive and the legislature save for two obvious problems.
1) It violates the seperation of powers and
2) This extrodinary arrangement would be available to all governors.

Aw they're just chimin in with their buddy Angelides who, unlike a few of us here, is campaigning against the bond deal as if it was different from all his recent bondage deals.
We need to give the BEE a new nickname like, The Sacramento "Bizzare" BEE!!! Or, The Sacramento "Buzzard!"
They're just pist that the bond will be remembered for 20 years to memorialize the desperate abject failure of their Democrap buddies running amok with no restraints by "Done-for Davis!" (The recycled Jerry Brown maladministration with an empty blue shirt instead of a blue 1957 Plymouth)

They're bitching because Arnold hasn't supplied them any real cuts so that they can go interview the "victims."
They're baiting him.
