What we see emerging is a new sort of society where educated elites use the soft power of the state to reengineer people's values as they will. The ordinary limits of governmental power cannot stop them, since the new values will be defined as "basic rights"--in whose name even libertarians will support a vast new intrusion of government into the lives of individuals. -Maggie Gallagher

If Bush and the pub senators decided to play hardball on judicial nominees, it wouldn't be a problem. Apparently, they prefer to have an issue to use in the next election.

When the new day dawns, courts--once bound by the idea that motherhood and fatherhood sprang from nature--will be free to define family relationships and distribute parental powers as they see fit.

The courts are leading the way to a society which does not recognize that anything human arises from the natural world, but rather insists that all aspects of human behavior and human relations are self-created and therefore subject to regulation.

This experiment, of course, will create a non-survivable hell on earth, where human cultures will either disappear (France, Italy), become degraded (Soviet Union), or be conquered by people who have not lost their minds.

Gay activists have all come via the Court --The court yet
gives lip service to Jurists being under the same written
Constitution as the rest of us. #5 There is No indication--
of any viable alternative except a Constitutional Amendment
Liek that proposed by Rep Musgrave, and Sen.Allard.

But a federal marriage-defining amendment must nevertheless answer questions of state jurisdiction that few of us have the foresight to address. For example:

If a couple were to marry in Arkansas...
...and a year later move to Texas...
...would they still be legally brother and sister?
