With or without Gore's backing, Dean's primary threat to the eternally and thoroughly corrupt clintons lies not in 2004 but rather in 2008 when name recognition from the 2004 campaign will propel him rather than the ugly one to the top. We must accept the possibility that 2008 will bring a less formidable opponent than we currently have in GWB. Let the games begin!

Actually, I see this as a cold calculation by the Tree to set up his own run in 2008. Even he knows Dean will get torched by Dubya next year, but by backing him now, he helps leverage the DNC away from his would-be opponent, Hitlery. The RAT race in 2008 is shaping up to be the mother of all blood feuds with Algore squaring off against the Clintons.
