Jesus did not say "I'm OK, you're OK" or "Do your own thing" or elevate "choice" above all other considerations. He said "Take up your cross and follow me." That's a call for personal responsibility. Nothing could be more alien to the modern liberal.

I've had libs try to tell me Jesus was a liberal. When I ask them what characteristics He had or what teachings He espoused that were liberal, they usually can't think of a thing.
If they answer at all it's usually, "He was in favor of helping the poor." My response to that is, "He was in favor of YOU helping the poor, not in favor of you taking money out of other people's wallets to help the poor."
They have no counter argument for that.

Whenever I hear a leftist make this claim, I ask for the chapter and verse wherein He espouses the coerced redistribution of wealth. Not surprisingly, I receive a lot of ad hominem slurs but never an answer.

Sometimes they try to tell me he opposed the death penalty, even though he willing gave himself up to be executed.

He told the woman at the well to " go and sin no more".
They would have a fit over that too!
They would tell Jesus not to judge!

This is as well said as any I have ever read on this subject.

That's specifically why some people don't like Jesus, the don't want to believe that God will judge them.

Whenever I hear a leftist make this claim, I ask for the chapter and verse wherein He espouses the coerced redistribution of wealth. Not surprisingly, I receive a lot of ad hominem slurs but never an answer. That's all you have to do with a lib, as them to prove it or cite sources. Usually they can't come up with anything on their own, which is why they need their leaders to come up with talking points they reapeat ad nauseum.
How many times have liberal friends told you "Bush is an idiot?" It has happened to me several times, to which I respond by asking, "Well what do you mean?"
Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, there will be no good answer to my question and the subject is dropped. Pretty good entertainment if you ask me. All you need to do is ask them to prove their own statements and watch the bumbling commence.

Usually, the best they can come up with is GWB's sometimes fractured speech, which is not so much evidence of his idiocy as it is of their smarmy elitism.

I have a rather unique take on
"Judge not lest ye be judged." I
want to be judged. And I want to be judged the way Christ, as God's representative, judges...with love, correction, and care. Christ never judged
people; that is, He never condemned their souls as without worth. If anything, He judged us all as being worth the supreme sacrifice...His own life in exchange for ours. But everyday Christ judged the sin that men do, and condemned it. (Ask the moneylenders who had the imprint of His sandel on their rumps as they were pitched out of the Temple for making something holy into nothing more than a shopping mall.)
As Christians, (that is, "Little Christs") we should be judging; we should be judging the deeds of men, calling evil evil and good good. And we should do it lovingly, as course correction, the way God through Christ judges us.

That is a very good observation. The good side of President Bush's speech pattern is that he is usually to the point and there is no room to misinterpret what he says. If you read some of his speeches over the past three years, a few of them are good enough to rank among the best ever, by any president.

You gotta love this irony...I have been accused by many of being effectivly a "Rush-Bot" by liberals, as if I had no thoughts of my own, and had to be spoonfed ideas from him. Felgercarb...he happens to mirror my own ideas, and he has a bazillion dollars to spend all day long doing political research for me. And now, in this Internet age, more and more the Left is revealed to be exactly what they accuse us of...being mind-numbed robots with no logical arguements of their own. You gotta laugh.

I know this isn't Biblical, necessarily, but I think of Jesus as interceding on my behalf, not only because of his love for me, but also because he was human. And I imagine him speaking to his father, the Lord, and saying, "Well, Dad, you see she meant well, and she did apologize and she is trying harder and she does seek your forgiveness..." etc.
This is just a mental image I have, and I know it is not found in the Bible.

It's spooky that you posted this today, because just yesterday I got into an argument with a fairly agnostic friend of mine who said that Jesus would have wanted us to "turn the other cheek" and not attack Iraq.
