Looks to me like her name at that of the husband in question are not the same. That implies that it's not really the father they're talking about. Not uncommon for the press to intentionally wrongfully accuse fathers.

All girls need to be taught in no uncertain terms that any boyfriend or husband who ever threatens or commits violence on them must be dumped instantly and permanently. No staying with a violent nut "for the children" or because "he has some really good qualities". Amen to that. I will add that with these perps and others, such as the guy who kidnapped the college student in North Dakota, their behavior always escalates, and the price that some victim has to pay is greater each time.

She should have bought a hand gun and shot the bastard.
I had an employee who never seemed violent to me. He stabbed one of his daughters to death and seriously wounded the other.
Tragic.

I may not have sufficient direct experience, but what I had was too much.
Many women who get abused by their significant others keep getting involved with those types of men who don't find it terribly wrong to be physically abusive to a woman...especially one they consider "theirs".
I'm not saying that a women get what they deserve, etc., I'm just saying that a lot of women experience these types of wrongs in multiple relationships. They seem to gravitate to this type of man.
Just my 2 cents.

And I really think that with many of them, their behavior WOULDN'T escalate, if they never got a sense of power and control from it the first time. If on the first try, it got them instantly single and ignored, they'd be less likely to believe this approach works and try it again more energetically.

Your going to niggle over suburbs versus city? The "run over three times" was Houston, not Dallas. She was a dentist.
The Cadets were Mansfield, which is more of a suburb of Fort Worth than Plano.

He sounds like another Texan. Notice how many screwball stories come outta Texas?. Houston- a woman drowns her five kids in a tub. Dallas- a mom slits the throat of her two boys. Plano- a Air Force academy cadet kills a 16 yearolf Cheerleader at the behest of his Naval Academy girlfriend. Forth Worth - A women runs down a homeless guy and lets himn bleed to death in her windshield. She tells him to be quiet when he pleads for help. Dallas- A woman doctor runs over her husband three times and then claims it is an accident...the stories are endless.Oh, and don't forget Marcus McTier who allegedly killed his girlfriend with a butcher knife in an Austin high school. Are you nuts? Crazy people are everywhere, not just Texas. How about the five people who were murdered and their trailer burned in Shelbyville, Tennessee? Or, how about Ted Bundy in Florida? Or... I mean, come on, kooks kill everywhere...not just Texas. Texas does not have a monopoly on insane people.

I don't recall saying that Texas had an exclusive monopoly on weird sociopathic events. I merely cited that many stories of a peculiar sort originate in Texas. While I am sure sociopathy is a nationwide phenomenon it appears to occur in Texas with alarming frequency. Monoply no....preponderance?...it would appear so.
One thing I do know. Any criticism of Texas and Texans is sure to engender a spate of devoted zealous Texas defenders only less numerous and than if one were to criticize Micheal Jackson or NASCAR.

If you have some specific data to share to support your assertion I would be glad to read it.
Granted, my theory is subjective and impressionistic but I think that the data would bear me out and not support your contention.
After all Waco did happen in Texas. A rather unique event in our recent history. Even the Hale Boppers couldn't top that.
