Judge allows public school to teach about Islam

Berkeley, California-AP -- A federal judge has ruled that a California school district didn't violate the Constitution when it taught seventh-graders about Islam.

Parents who sued the Byron Union School District said students were required to participate in role-playing. It included wearing Muslim clothing, saying Islamic prayers and giving up candy for a day to demonstrate the principle of daytime fasting during Ramadan.

Critics said the lessons crossed the line between instruction and indoctrination.

School officials said parents were given the option of not having their children participate.

Federal Judge Phyllis Hamilton found that there was no evidence that students were doing activities with devotional or religious intent.

But the plaintiffs' attorney says the ruling reveals "a double standard when you're dealing with religious issues in public schools -- one for Christians and one for all the other faiths."

I wonder how many people realize that reciting the Shihada, even if done without intent, automatically converts one to Islam.

In a sharia society, a Christian or Jew who says the Shihada must conform to Islam or be put to death

I hope other school districts can use this ruling to stop the ACLU from blocking the teaching of Xmas in schools.

How is saying Islamic prayers not showing religious intent? Would saying a Chriatian prayer be judged in the same way? I note the article leaves out that jihad is part of the "role playing"

Exactly...that is what this is really about...the ACLU the ADL...People for the American Way etc
hate Christ and consequently Christians..which is why every religion except Christianity is allowed in the public square..
They want to dethrone God in America and all the founders envisoned...they want to create their anti Christ secular humanist state and use any means to further this agenda
Even temporary alliances with Islam...the devil knows his own...
imo

Thanks for the ping.

The California courts have gone completely overboard. I heard that the 9th circuit court of appeals is the most overturned court in the nation. I think this court has a short circuit!!!
