Talking about Michael Jackson - gag. I usually hit the remote when that start yapping about MJ, or Kobe, or Scott. I already know more about those cases than I care to know. Anyway, by the time I got up, they were reporting the SoDamn Insane capture.

I'll have to give credit to CNN; they're usually first on breaking news, especially breaking international news.

But the spin they were putting on the capture was absolutely nauseating. Since I rarely watch it, I'm not sure if it was coming from their International or US bureau.

I happened to be awake when the story broke...

I got in from Mass, the Sunday Telegraph had the story about Saddam being in communication with the leader of the 11th September; then I turned on the news to see his capture which was just breaking.

The B.B.C. was renamed the Baghdad Broadcasting Corporation during the war, but yesterday News24 was full of praise for the capture. The correspondent in Baghdad emphasised that she was wearing a flak jacket because of the ordinary Iraqis celebrating by firing guns in the air.

The nearest thing to a negative point was over the idea of an Iraqi court. It was pointed out that a U.N. court would only be able to impose life-imprisonment, whereas the Iraqis will want him executed. Though even here, the correspondents seemed to agree that as his worst acts were against Iraqis, Iraq should try him.

I find it utterly extraordinary that anybody could have any qualms about his capture. Surely every sane individual will wish to congratulate all of the troops who took part in the operation. But then I suppose that excludes leftists...
