How Serious is the Threat to Our Troops in Iraq? (Vanity)

Please excuse the vanity but I was listening to some of the commentators on TV yesterday who were down playing Saddam's capture. They indicated that the war in Iraq was not going well despite the capture of Saddam and that our troops were just sitting ducks etc etc.
I thought I would take a graphical look at the situation comparing the safety of our troops in Iraq to the safety of Americans in our 2 largest cities.
I hope the graphic works since it is being hosted on a free site.

Interesting point but it's apples and oranges...and I am a supporter of our policy in Iraq. It's what the news media calls "changing the subject." Won't wash with war opponents.

I find this question and it's persistant flavor quite silly. Our military is in Iraq. They are soldiers. They shoot and kill people. People shoot at and sometimes kill our troops. That is what our military does in it's primary capacity. If Iraq was safe and secure you would see different resources being used in our presence and roll there. Right now there are hundreds of militant rebels equipped with cash, RPG's, weapons, and acting on a mission from Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Hammas, Al-Queda, Hezbolah, and many more, to prevent Iraq from becoming a success. The future of other Iraq's in the region depends on America cutting and running.
And one bonus......As long as our military is there, they(the enemy) will not be here.

And for an honest cut and paste, would you care to adjust those figures to per capita? Fairness and all.........

The chart, and any comparison of murder rates in cities to coalition deaths in Iraq, is bogus. Also, the suggestion that because the death rate is like that of the murder rate of a major American city it's somehow an ok number is also bogus.

Floridation. You forgot to factor in which cities have floride in the water supply.

Nice irrelevant graph! Blackbird.

Sometimes being able to think, thank you for your point. I was sidetracked by facts. I was trying to hold the argument to fairness and prevent misleading statistics from being used.
As you pointed out so well, since when is the liberal machine concerned about being misleading? They insist on it!

I can't see the picture for some reason, but I don't really need to. The dangers are very different, apples and oranges if you like, but the death rates are similar.
The same can be said about suicide rates among the troops, which a liberal sources tried to make a big issue last week. Naturally it's depressing to be in Iraq at Christmas time when you'd rather be home with your family, yet the annual rate per thousand troops was pretty close to the annual rate per thousand males in the U.S. Leftist reporters are desperate to find or create any story that will turn the voters against the war and against Bush.
