When was the last time a Democrat said something that statesmanlike? I seems to happen about once a decade.

Joe probably heard someone else say it first

Sean explained interview etiquette earlier in the broadcast. If you're an interviewer and you want anyone to appear on your show, you have to assure them of an opportunity to present their own view. In this case, it sounds like Sean bent over too far, Alan Colmes-style. Maybe's he's hoping that a performance like today's will lead to an audience with Hillary ;-)

Frankly, I'd cut him some slack. Emotionally, he hasn't come down from the high induced by the capture of Saddam, so he's being nice to everybody. That, and his Christmas spirit, which led him to forgive a girl who ran her car into his over the weekend.

I understand that to a point. However, when he did ask the question about the F-bomb, he allowed Kerry to equate his behavior with President Bush.

As to being nice to guests to get them to appear - we are talking about people who would show up wherever a camera or microphone appears. That they are running against Dean means they will appear anywhere, anytime and in any way. Can't allow that opportunity like that to slip through one's fingers as I think Sean did.

No, I don't forgive. We are in a domestic battle for hearts and minds and he Let Kerrry obfuscate and mislead without challenge. It is one of those defining moments and Hannity didn't show me anything. Sean's a nice guy--too nice.

Yup, being nice and being a door mat are to very different things. He let Kerry peddle his talking points and untruths. Sean's fecklessness suggest to people that Kerry is teelling the truth and that he has a leg to stand on--which Kerry objectively doesn't. Shameful display of incompetence on Sean's part.

I really like Sean. I think as you say, he is sometimes "too nice." Today he would have done a great service to his listeners had he pressed Kerry for more definitive answers and not allowed him to as you say peddle his talking points to Sean's audience.

I hope he will be tougher next time and pick up on the points the guest is putting out there (in Kerry's case - N Korea and Clinton, Kerry's comments about meeting with U N Security Council!, etc.
