"Regards from President Bush"; With these words American soldiers apprehended the Irai ex-dictator Saddam Hussein in an earthen pit near Tikrit. Pictures from Saddam's last hideout.
Adwar/Iraq- His first words after the arrest were: "My name is Saddam Hussein. I am the President of Iraq, and I want to negotiate." The answer by the US-Soldiers: "Regards from President Bush." Colonel Bryan Reed repeated this dialog Sunday to journalists who visited the earthen pit in the cellar of a dwelling south of Tikrit, in which the disposed Head of State was captured the day before.
In the house above the hole complete choas ruled, as reporters write. Dirty laundry was piled up, the pantry was empty, the only decoration was a poster of Noah's ark on the wall - no comparison at all to the years of luxury in which Saddam Hussein lived in his palaces. The house consisted only of a tiny bedroom and a temporary kitchen, no bathroom was to be seen.
One of the two beds was was covered by flowery patterned sheets, the second seemed to be unused. A box on the floor held two new white men's T-shirts and two pairs of white cotton boxer shorts.Several books were laying on the floor. A small refrigerator in the kitchen held a few chocolate bars, hot dogs and a soda can. Old bread was laying on a sideboard, leftover rice was in a pot, dirty dishes were piled in the sink.
Above the gas stove a small shelf was put up, on which soap, a can of coffee, mouthwash and a mirror stood. Apparently, a hole in the courtyard served as a toilet. The pit in which Saddam Hussein was discovered was covered with a linen sheet. It was ventilated with a small pipe.
On the property were also two stalls, one for chickens, one for a cow. The US soldiers who discovered Saddam Hussein were just about to throw a hand grenade into the hole. But the ex-president gave himself up then; he clutched a small pistol, but didn't fire any shots.

Wait, that didn't sound quite right...
That is where the raghead was hiding, how appropriate...
I would have flushed with a grenade myself.
