We need to encourage these places to develop a mass-market low-carb french fry. I make them at home, but it's a tedious process - and it shouldn't be. I julienne-cut turnips, coat them in a batter made from Ketato mix and egg, and deep fry them. (You have to batter them because turnips won't crisp by themselves.) The strong turnipy flavor is mostly killed by the deep-frying. Salted and low-carb ketchup'ed, they're yummy.

But they're such a pain in the butt to make...I should be able to buy bags of these already frozen, ready to deep-fry...

When you confronted her with this error...Actually, I chickened out. I told her that Atkins wasn't right for her. I recently tried an Atkins cereal with almonds (very few almonds, I should add). Not half bad. Also, you might want to try heavy cream diluted about three to one with water instead of soy milk. Works for me, anyway. Regards.

Sorry, tried the Low Carb thing, and for me it didn't do squat.

I've seen the science, but as Atkins and the Beach Body guys both admit, largely the key to the diet dispite all the "ketosis" marketing is that at the end of the day it reduces caloric intake.

What do the low cars require? Well lets see, they ban sugars ( a huge number of empty calories that most american's ead daily when they are not dieting, and it bans most white flour based products... another nutritionally void foodstuff with high calories)

It is despite the hype, in reality nothing more than a caloric restriction diet.. by banning empty calories, and focusing the eater or higher protien you not only cut empty calories out of the diet, but make them eat more filling foods (protiens are far far more filling per calorie consumed than nearly everything else out there) So you reduce cravings by having a more full and longer full sensation, and then ban empty calorie foods.

So, if the diet works for you, that is fine and dandy, but I guarantee you, if you count the calories you intook before you started and what you take on the diet, you will find a significant difference. If the "no carb" hook is what is needed to keep caloric intake restricted, that is fine... but at the end of the day these diets are no different at their core than any other, the restrict the caloric intake of the person on them.

The rest, while it makes the dieter feel good seeing that ketosis stick turn pink... someone following any diet that works will indeed get it to turn pink... after all when you take in less calories than you consume your body must burn fat to survive.. and its that process of burning the fat that creates the ketones.

I am glad if the diet works for you, but realise HOW it works is more to do with simple mathematics (less calories in than calories burns = weight loss, roughly 3500 calories need to be burned more than consumed to lose 1 lbs of weight.) I do agree in the first phases of the low carb thing you can see some dramatic water weight lose end of the day its simple caloric restriction.

A few years ago I went with a friend to Hot Dog place. My friend was a vegetarian so she ordered her hot dog with extra mustard and relish but no dog.

It took the poor, befuddled girl behind the counter a good five minutes to comprehend what my friend wanted. She simply could not understand that some people don't eat meat.

Sorry, neither the current research nor personal experience gives you the slam dunk you're looking for. You just have no idea how much I eat.

Sorry it didn't work for you, though. But I fail to see why so many people like yourself feel compelled to try to tell me I'm eating fewer calories, when they have no clue WHAT I'm eating. It would be amusing if it wasn't so frequent...

May I ask where this was? Out here in the People's Republic of Washington, at least the western side of it, you'd have no trouble making even a fast food worker understand.

Maybe they ought to have lines at fast food places where you could stand, a veggie line on one side, an Atkins line next to it, and when one of each lined up next to the other, they could split a meal!

Well, then, what are you eating? There are very few ways to eat a significant number hi-cal goodies without going out of ketosis... like chowing down an entire pound of butter.

I eat all that I want, always feel full and have never "enjoyed" a diet as much before!

Thsoe who want to shove the pyramid thing down our throats, or tell us we are "naturally" eating less, just make me laugh.
