They've already found mass graves that include 300,000 to 400,000 corpses.
Just out of curiousity I must ask:
In the Gulf War I, we killed probably 150-200 thousand Iraqi soldiers and Republican guardsmen.
Where exactly did you expect the Iraqis to bury them?...Kuwait? Jordan? Syria? Iran?
I care about the results not the niceties of the Geneva Convention.
I would like to be generally able to expect American troops if captured in future wars to be extended those "niceties".

If the suggestions for Hussein's questioning that I heard the female beauty shop patrons and operators make the other day were taken, Hussein would rather be dead than questioned. 'Made my hair curl.

If we could save the lives of men in our command by either physically or mentally torturing a bad guy, would we do it?In my case, Yes, and then I'd have to resign as I'd violated the high standards required to be the leader.

Pretty good answer to a tough question.
To: Flightdeck
I agree with ya. Who knows what drivel might spew from that thing's hole just to keep the pain off him.
To: Petronski
Psychological torture (drugs, hot-cold, water, no sleep, etc.) is highly effective and, for the subject, not permanently harmful nor particularly painful...merely damned annoying. Now THAT just might be the way to go...
To: Flightdeck
Torture them!!!!!
I'd do it myself, in a heartbeat.

And if you did, realize that the United States loses the moral high ground. There are much more effective ways to elicit information from perpetrators than torture, and believe me, the United States is employing them right now. They are not fun, but they are not torture.
To: Flightdeck
Well, if you believe killing in defense of others is better than not it would appear to me that torture in defense of others is the same.
To: ItisaReligionofPeace
Maybe. Not to get philosophical, but it's sad that we have to make the choice in the first place.
To: Young Rhino
Curious as to whether you consider
this a situation where toture would be appropriate?
I look foward to your
reply.

Lakhani, 68, an Indian-born British citizen No constitutional niceties for this guy. Based on the 150 recorded phone conversations and the other evidence, if there is probable cause to believe he has information related to terror cells operating within the U.S., by all means classify him as an enemy combatant and torture the hell out of him if necessary.
The British were shocked during the Revolutionary War that not all of our guys would march across the field in bright colored uniforms/targets for a "civilized" war. Many are likewise discovering today that the rules of war have changed post-9/11.

I also believe we should use HUMANE methods of getting information from prisoners, and I do not think that Sean Hannity believes we should really "torture" him. I think he would agree with these lines as well.
