I get the feeling Sean (and also Bennett who hedged his enthusiasm for the idea by bravely hiding behind fellow torture proponent Dershowitz) are just up for torturing someone.
I think they should volunteer to preform the task themselves as a means to over it.
Thankfully, we have a president who (unlike Bennett, Hannity, and Dershowitz) is sane and would understand the long term danger this precedent would set.
When the Iraqis get their rightful turn to try him themselves, I'm sure they'll handle things appropriately.

"I was amazed to hear hear the things Bill Bennet was saying. Sean Hannity stopped short of the cattle prod (in the radio interview not tv)."
It would do you wonders of good to spend a prolonged length of time in a war zone.

O.k. by me.
He either tortured or had tortured his share of people.
Give him a dose of his own medicine and see how he likes it when the shoe is on the other foot.
My sympathy is solely with the Servicemen and women, the dead and wounded, and also the widows and orphans of those who died defending me.
Everyone else is entitled to their opinion.
This is just the way I feel.

Anyone remember Calciescu (sp) in Romania? I suspect we'd have a scene similar to that.Yep. Or Mussolini.

I'd have to hear the context of the conversation.
I'm for torturing him too. But my definition of what constitutes torture could be different than yours.
How many folks would be against torturing Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, et al?

That's all well and good but our justice system does not torture people for information. America is above torturing people. We should not do to Saddam what he spent years doing to other people.

CY, the one thing we absolutely do not want is Saddam hussein injected into the US justice system. Justice will be served when his information gland is squeezed dry and he is sent to the Kurd town of Habalja.

Bill Bennett said needles under the fingernails type stuff.
Pretty remarkable wasn't it?
I've come to believe his calm and measured demeanor, combined with his captain morality posturing, masks a particularly twisted and frustrated mind.

I agree. Look if we turned him over to the Iraqis, I don't see him getting the light treatment. I'd not lose sleep over what they do with his hindquarters. I just don't want see the American government sink their level.

We built an entire prison and told Al-Queda prisoner A that he was in Saudi Arabia. He thought we had transferred him into Saudi Arabia! He was scared to death. For the really hard cases, tell them they're in Israel...

Do you remember what he had in his palaces?
It was just about at the level of velvet Elvis.
I think he'd like the Bachelor and all that garbage.

I don't know about torture but I think the Iraqis will put him to death. Here is what I think would be fitting for an execution -bring Saddam out and have an array of all the death vehicles he used and his sons, from the plastic shredder to the acid baths, to every other type of horrid death. Make him think it will all happen to him. I personally would vote for the plastic shredder, feet first. Either way this international tribunal stuff is BS. The Iraquis should try him and do what they want with him, after we get all the information out of him that we can.

while he is on 500ug of LSD. My version using that drug involves immobilizing the person in a salt marsh during fly season.
I was amazed to hear hear the things Bill Bennet was saying. Sean Hannity stopped short of the cattle prod (in the radio interview not tv).
I only saw/heard parts of both shows and was a bit disturbed by his making it such a prominent subject. I really didn't like the tone.

Yes, you can make good points for the usefulness of using torture to obtain information, and I agree with them. That is exactly why this is a hard issue for many people, I suppose. Part of me says if it saves one American (human) life to chop the guy up inch by inch, then do it. But then with whom do you stop, and for what level of gain? Or how much pain exactly is acceptable, because we are of course inflicting a moderate amount of pain to all the prisoners through one way or another. Of course, I already admit my hypocrisy before anybody asks: Yes, if it was my wife or sister or brother's life that would be saved, I would push him slowly through the shredder. I guess that's my whole point, it's a tough question.

Question 1: Where are the WMD?
Question 2: Did you assist with the planning and implementation of 9/11?
Question 3: Did France provide you with any assistance within the past year, military or otherwise?
With each wrong answer, remove a testicle and then the shaft. The fourth wrong answer gets him saline breast implants. The fifth wrong answer gets him the biggest gay jewish cellmate the Israelis can provide.

Heh...I was thinking along those lines. Like tie Saddam up in a small dark room in Vegas, where he can watch Bill Bennett on a webcam, Bennett with a bimbo at each elbow gambling away and losing a million bucks in one night. Then show Bennett on the webcam wolfing down a coupla big steaks and a gallon of champagne. Then show Bennett getting cozy with his bimbos.
All the while Saddam's tongue is hanging out in anticipation. But all he gets is bread and water and a goat.
SNL will know what to do with this material.

I don't care whether he likes it or not. I just think they should be able to use any means necessary to extract information from him, and from the rest of them. Not extracting information endangers our own people. All this "high ground" crap is a crock. PC warfare is valuing the lives of the enemy over our own! WHO CARES WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE?????
