On Hannity and Colmes a few moments ago, Sean and Bill Bennett (who I think is one of the most respectable analysts out there) both supported torturing Saddam and others to save American lives.

I agree with you in that the government should not be involved in such activity.............I'll do it

It doesn't sound like torture will be necessary in this case (although I fully support doing it if nothing else works). Saddam was all too willing to negotiate from the minute he was dragged out of his hole, after pleading with us not to shoot him. My bet is he's a bit soft after all those years of palace living, and will give up the goods after a minimal amount of prodding, appealing to his monstrous ego, or threats.

I recommend the follow methods, although some sensitive people might think they are too brutal:

The torture is happening right now. Saddam is universally reviled in the Arab street for being a coward.

I too think the Iraqis will put him to death. Unfortunately he can only die once and he killed 100,000's, not to mention the pain & suffering of those who survived. He should not have an easy death. Maybe keeping him alive in a public square in stocks, would be more of a punishment.

I like Alan Colmes. He is the classiest liberal out there.

That's not saying much.

Anyone doubt a Hillary beaver shot to be more painful than a rootcanal without drugs?

Can we really define out cruel and unusual?

Years ago, there was a case in which a man stole a stereo set and other electronics from a woman's home. He was caught, tried and convicted. The judge's sentence was for the woman to go to the man's home and pick out for herself whatever she wanted. The convict went beserk. My rights, my rights! But it didn't violate his rights, it was part of his sentence. He had no right to her property.

It was fabulous.

It was effective, in part because it was unusual and made the convict think. Or if not, it made him crazy.

So unusual appeals to me.

At the same time, the usual suspects (including his daughters) are yelping that he was drugged, he's being abused, and so forth. We could feed him twinkies every day and they would wig out. Maybe that's the ticket: a diet of junk food and force him to watch bad television (there's so much to choose from).

Sean also supports abortion in the case of rape and incest. Not exactly of high moral character, IMHO.

As for Bennett........no comment.

With each wrong answer,....

So according to your scenario, we are to torture him to give us answers we already have?...or to give us the answers we want?

I don't see any logic...merely a sadism for the sport of it freaky gay sex fantasy scenario that may say more about yourself than it does about justice.

Weird stuff.

"If we could save the lives of men in our command by either physically or mentally torturing a bad guy, would we do it?"

Tough question. I'm not sure.

If you think Sean is a low man for advocating hard case abortions, Alan Colmes is scraping bottom of the barrel. He was speechless when Kathy Ireland was on a while ago. She said she in favor of the right to choose... choose life that is.

True enough. Saddam, his Arab sympathizers, and hypersensitives who feel offended when witnessing the humiliation of any prominent Arab/Muslim (no matter how nasty) are all being tortured right now. .....And I love it.

Bill Bennett said needles under the fingernails type stuff. I don't have a problem with sodium pentathol, but I was really surprised to hear Bennett say that. Hannity I could kind of expect, because sometimes he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Will Bill Bennett assume the responsibility of our troops being captured and receiving far worse treatment. What does it matter anymore what he says. Who would believe it?.

I love the armchair Generals popping off what they would do.

The world has enough bad things to say about the war and the US, never mind branding us torturers.

I agree with you about The Bachelor. I have long thought that the best course of action would be to send Gilbert Goddfried to Iraq. Tell Saddam that Gilbert will shut up when he tells us where Scott Speicher is and where the WMD's are.
