Why was one dropped on a city? Good question. Now why would an isolationist nation like the U.S. drop a bomb on another nation? Hmmmmm...could it be that was a response to an attack by an agressive empire which had no regard for human life?
What happened to the people in Hiroshima?
Much the same thing as happened to thousands of Brit civilians who died under waves of He-111's.

Actually, the real comparison should be drawn against the raid on Dresden..the Allies used fire-bombs..the entire city burned..I've seen estimates of 120,000+ killed...nom one knows, in many ways it was more devastating that Hiroshima and Nagasaki...yet, because it wasn't a nuke, it was somehow OK...the original attempts at revisionist history attempted to paint a racial component to the decision....i.e. we could have used it against Germany....of course, the fact that it wasn't ready then isn't important...
