FWD E-Mail:
Please find attached information regarding the disappearance of a 17 yr old Loudon county girl. My husband, Jim, works with Christa's father. This is the second case of a disappearing 17 year old girl that we have become aware of in the last 4 days. In both cases, the girl's car was found with the keys in the ignition. The 2nd girl's father works with a friend of ours and she was a local (Columbia area) girl. Her body was found in a ravine not too far from her car. The car was found in a turn lane with the motor running. Her funeral is today. Christa is still missing.
Please, please tell your teenaged drivers, and teenaged daughters in general, to be on the alert any time they are in a stopped vehicle or are out alone. The similarities in these cases are too close to ignore. Also, if you see someone matching Christa's description or have any other information regarding her disappearance, please contact her parents (see below) or the Loudon county police.
Parents' E-mail:
Dear family and friends, I wanted to update you all on our progress with Christa's case. We have not found her at this point, but thanks to your incredible effort and kindness we have several new leads. Jeff and I continue to be amazed at the wonderful support you have given to us and the ways you have reached out. On Saturday afternoon only a few people knew of Christa's disappearance. Thanks to you, your family, friends, and all of your efforts, a major media blitz ensued and Christa's picture has been seen by literally millions of people across the states. She is now registered in several data bases and the police department has intensified its efforts in trying to locate her. As we continue to pray for her safe return, we also give thanks for so many wonderful friends and loved ones. God bless you all,
Jeff and Lisa Rogaliner
Poster Info:
17 year old Loudoun County Girl Gone. Missing Since Friday
A 17 Year old Loudoun County girl has been missing since Friday, December 12, 2003. Christa was last seen Friday morning at Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling, Virginia. She had driven to the mall in a 1993 green Ford Escort Wagon and developed car trouble along the way. She arrived at the mall at approximately 10:00 am, went in to pick up a package and was seen as very distraught by associates in the mall. She was given directions to a local auto parts store in Sterling and left the mall with her package. She has not been seen since.
The car she was driving was found on Shaker Woods at Wiehle Avenue in Reston, Virginia. According to neighbors, the car was left around 11:00 am parked in a turn lane at a 45 degree angle and must have been left in neutral gear as it apparently rolled into a ditch and became stuck later that afternoon. The car was found Saturday afternoon by Fairfax County Police unlocked with the keys in the ignition and her package still in the backseat.
Her family was notified and retrieved the vehicle. Friends and family have had no word from her at all. Leesburg Police Officer, Corey Smith is heading up the investigation into Christas disappearance. Police have actively pursued several leads but have had no luck into locating the missing girl.
Christa is 57 tall, reddish brown hair, medium build. She wears braces and occasionally wire-rimmed glasses. She is possibly wearing a yellow and navy blue Tommy Hilfiger jacket and jeans.
Her distraught family and friends are desperately appealing to the public to give any information regarding Christa and her whereabouts to the Leesburg Police Department at 703-771-4500 or any Local law enforcement agency as she is listed regionally as a missing person.

Prayerful bump. Considering this is the DC area, it sure doesn't seem to be getting much national media exposure.

No I cannot. That bothered me a bit. Still, I recieved this e-mail from people I know - I read down through where the e-mail made the rounds - all active duty or part of the retired military community in N. VA.

Why would she be on Wiehle Ave? Nowhere near Sterling. Unless she was lost.
To: Dave Dilegge
Another question - Friday was a school day. Why wasn't she in school?

I think I've seen this story on WRC-TV a few times. I don't usually watch the other three channels for local news, so I don't know if they're aware of this too.

Moreover, I weighed the chance that this might being a hoax or sick joke vs. a N. Virginia FReeper having some info. on a missing child I came down on the side of the later just in case.

IIRC, from what I heard about it on the news, they seemed to think that she was expecting a special package at the mall and that package would be mailed back if she didn't pick it up immediately. They didn't say what the package consisted of though.

I have absolutely no idea on either of your questions.

If that is where her car ended up it didn't roll into that position. Notice the skid mark. A rolling car doesn't leave skid marks. A car fishtailing would. Looks as if it might have been forced off the road.

There's rubber on the road in front of the car and grassed messed up behind the bumper which doesn't mesh with the car rolling into the ditch as reported.

I agree it could have been forced. It looks like she was driving backwards, tried to brake, went in the ditch, tried to go forwards and got stuck.

Hope it is a hoax. She looks like a typical girl next door. Poor kid. Odd how the car was left. The skid mark is from the back tire. If it was left in neutral, there shouldn't be a skid mark. Abducted in broad daylight? Of course it looks to be a residential street so most people would be at school or work so pretty much deserted. Someone said the car wasn't going in the right direction as the car repair shop so the bad guy could have been in her car at the mall. Hope the mall had security cameras.
To: mtbopfuyn
I hope it is a hoax too. All that would mean is I got duped. The aleternative - missing girl and maybe a sicko on the loose in N. VA is worth a chance that maybe one of us saw something related to the mall, the car, or Christa that, at the time seemed out of place but did not warrent a call to the police. This is a 'just in case' post. I have a 15 year old who will be driving soon.

I've lived in Northern Virginia for 15 years and still get lost driving around in Reston. They don't believe in street signs there.
To: palmer
I did something similar to a car when I was about her age, but had been drinking and it was late at night.
