What do you say when they tell you they cant get benefits, tax breaks and hospital visitation and other perks and benefits?

I wish homosexuality was still against the law but what do you say to these questions? I'd say tough $hit but thats just me. They don't accept that answer well but Tough $hit.

I tell them "too bad, that sucks, doesn't it? I'm a single guy and I don't get those benefits either. Is that the only reason you want to be 'married'?"
