plan that would allow immigrants to cross the border legally if jobs are waiting for them.

And just how would we know if jobs are waiting for these people unless we stop them at the border and they show us proof ......"proof" that could easily be forged. And since illegals rarely come in through the front door (where our border guards are situated) this "plan" will obviously not stop illegals from entering through their usual ports of entry.

I wish he cared about me as much as he cares about Mexicans invading my country.

I'm tired of all the rationalizations for the invaders, and the total lack of respect for the law.

We should enforce our border exactly the way Mexico enforces their Southern border.

I wish there was an alternate candidate who would stand up to the invasion sympathizers.

Bush will try to make the plan more palatable to conservatives by including stricter entry controls, including increased use of technology at the border and steps toward better enforcement of current visa restrictions and reporting requirements, sources said.

Sorry, heard it all before, not buying

Can someone in the Republican party, preferably a conservative please step up to the plate and give us a choice to vote for?

Bush just as well push for "one time amnesty" for drug dealers, burglars, extortionists, etc. After all, they're here to make a living and fill those "jobs" nobody else wants - just like Illegaliens.

Bush is developing a plan that would allow immigrants to cross the border legally if jobs are waiting for them.

How is somebody in Mexico going to line up a job here and have it "waiting for him"?

This is horrible news. Why, oh, why, is the news on illegal immigration always so bad? I am losing hope day by day.

“Logical consequences" will be that W looses the election and or causes a serious split in conservative support for the GOP.

I know , I know, that if I don’t vote for him the "others' get in!

But maybe just maybe if we did not vote GOP in ‘04 it would cause a little self analysis on the part of 2 or 3 GOP bosses and bring the GOP back to the right of the center.

Currently its way left of the center.

And yes I am Bush bashing.

I sure hope Mr Bush can find enough Mexicans to vote for him, being that if things dont improve greatly his base is staying home.

Some "Orange Alert" we're under, eh?

10 million illegal aliens, the identities of whom we have no idea, roaming about the country unmolested.

Meanwhile, strip-search for Granny at the airport.

And, the answer is to simply legalize the illegal aliens.

Yep. Makes sense to me. </sarcasm>

We haven't enforced immigration laws properly for decades.

We need to modify our immigration laws to reflect what we are willing to enforce. Otherwise, the rule of law is diminished by having laws on the books we are unwilling to enforce.

That said, the laws should be changed to bring those who have, and would, currently come here illegally, above board.

I have a friend who's illegal but has been working here for 17 years. I hope Bush makes it easier for people like him to stay here legally.
God bless George Bush.

If only we could get some kind of grassroots program against Tom Delay (who I am sure supports this)....get a large enough number of his constituents together and convince him that we WILL throw him (DeLay) out of office if he does not oppose GWB on this.

We need a prominent member of the House and/or Senate to oppose Bush.

It's easier to sway a House member than a Senate member and even the President.

We would be better off with Dean in the White House and a vigorous opposition in the GOP Congress. Then conservatives could watch their front only and stop worrying about the repeated knives in the back from this inarticulate wonder we call a president.

Let's see how many ways do I feel duped? Hmm let's start with the prescription drug bill (more to name but I won't bore anyone).. now this?? I've said it before, but it's interesting that Bush would favor a foreign power (i.e. Vincente Fox) that contravenes the will and the best interest of the American people...
