This list left off Jeanne Crain, who died Dec. 14th. She was one of my favorite actresses from Hollywood's Golden Age.

Passengers didn't want to tick him off just in case he was carrying a suitcase nuke. :)

"Famous" people. The objects of our secular worship and adulation. Yet mere mortals like the rest of us, they returned to dust as we all will. Let's pray that the source of their worldly fame will not be the cause of their eternal condemnation.
Spare a thought for the multitude of poor and afflicted who lived righteously and in anonymity, then left this world without the trumpet blasts of the secular press to herald their passing.

We don't have "X-mas" on F.R. General, but we do celebrate Christmas.

Madame Chiang Kai-shek, wife of the famous Chinese leader, died October 23 at the age of 105. That's amazing!
I know that Douglas MacArthur's wife, Jeanne was visited by the Clinton in the hospital a few years back. Apparently, all American presidents in office, after her husband died, made a point of visiting her at some point during their administration. Does anyone know if she's still alive? She'd certainly be in her 90's by now.

I saw Edward Teller at the Denver airport once about 6-7 years ago. When they started boarding everyone stopped and let him go through first. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

Listening to Teller was like listening to the voice of God.

Average age: 88.54 yrs. I think that is better than the average for blur-collar.
Being a celeberity must be easier than all these people say when they are doing those interviews that they do when they have something to sell.

Edward Teller? I missed that one - thought he died 20 years ago. Nope.
A Friend of mine is a Chauffeur in the SF Bay area and used to drive Teller back and forth to the Laurence Livermore Laboratory quite often. He was active to the end, and still had a lucid and sharp mind.

July 19, 1982: In the first annual Cracker Jack Oldtimers Classic at Washington's Robert F. Kennedy Stadium, 75-year-old "Old Aches and Pains" Luke Appling hits a 250-foot homer off Warren Spahn to help the AL to a 72 win over the NL in a 5-inning battle of retired baseball stars. One of the coolest sports moments I ever saw on TV. Short fence, but on TV, it looked like a big shot, especially from such an old guy.
