Ever hear of Kris Eggle?

Yep another victim of the government's love of cheap labor. If they really wanted to close that border it would have been done long time ago.

Immigration politics 2004

In light of the recent increase of the terror alert and threats of a greater attack than 9/11 consider the following:

On Dec 9 Tom Ridge, the head of the homeland security department, publicly stated that we need to have an amnesty for the 8-12 million illegal aliens inside the USA.

The Homeland Security Department in December abruptly abandoned the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, or NSEERS, which required nonimmigrant males from 25 terrorist-sponsoring nations to register with the INS. This widely successful program was implemented as
the result of 9/11, and has registered 83,000 foreign nationals and detained the 14,000 lawbreakers. A welcome side effect has also been that an estimated 15,000 illegal aliens from Pakistan alone have chosen to return home rather than register. In typical government fashion, the
program that is supposed to replace NSEERS, and is the supposed reason for dropping this successful program, has YET TO BE IMPLEMENTED.

The EEOC, under the direction of the executive branch (and President Bush) is currently suing American companies for 'discrimination' for implementing policies that restrict employees from using foreign languages while at work - even in cases where the foreign language is
being used to speak abusive and foul language under the noses of their English-only speaking managers and business owners.

And in the recent prescription drug plan that President Bush signed, there is ONE BILLION DOLLARS to pay for the hospitalization costs of illegal aliens. This only puts a band-aid on what is a hemorrhage. We will only have to make the hard choice of not subsidizing the healthcare
costs of illegal aliens down the road - when the annual cost is $5 billion, or $20 billion, or $100 billion, per year. (Arizona has a state sponsored healthcare plan. Cost to taxpayers in 2001 was $200 million.

Cost to taxpayers in 2003 will be well in excess of $1 billion - a 500% 2 year increase)

So I think it is time we call President Bush's campaign and let his people know that he must do better if he is to win our vote. While there are unfortunately no good alternative candidates on immigration for president in 2004, we can certainly let him know that we might just
decide to stay home in 2004 out of protest. We might remind him that abandoning the conservative base had quite a bad effect on his father's re-election campaign in 1992.

It is OUR LIVES that are at risk due to President Bush's open border policy. Global corporations and lobbying groups will not bear the cost of a mistake in the war on terror. Unfortunately, the American people will.

What we can do

Call your rep, senators, and president.

Call John Ashcroft at the Justice Department.

Tell them that you insist that we ENFORCE AND STRENGTHEN OUR EXISTING LAWS.

And make a regular habit of it.

Also, talk about this issue over the holidays with friends and family.

We must get people talking about this issue via word of mouth if we are to protect America. And we must get other people visiting the immigration web sites and contacting their elected officials to demand more.

Time to play politics

Let's also have some fun with the Democratic candidates. I don't like any of them. They all have a far worse position on immigration than President Bush.

But it might be good fun to see if we can get just one of them talking about this issue. Their campaigns are all certainly desperate enough!

If someone like Wes Clark would take even a partial stance on this issue this would in turn force President Bush to take a stronger stance, and maybe even make a few promises he would have to keep.

Polls indicate that 76% of Democrats and 85% of Republicans want stronger enforcement of immigration laws. So calling Democratic candidates is totally worth it. Believe me, the politicians know the poll numbers better than you or me.

Shopping

If you shop at Walmart, you might want to call them and ask if they have changed their policy of hiring illegal aliens, and if so what their new policy is. If you own Walmart stock, you might want to call investor
relations and see if they have changed their hiring policy as the result of the recent immigration arrests at their stores. Depending on their answer, you may want to reconsider the risks involved in owning a piece of Walmart.
