Yeah....I immigrated my 90 year old mother from UK...they wanted police records from every place she had lived since age 16.

Mum doesn't have a driving license much less than a police record.

Also the intensive medical, blood and urine tests, X-Rays etc...etc....

Final insult ......they searched her handbag at the airport.

****This is the worst sort of victimization??? You're nuts.****

OK. You go live in a mud-hut South of the border and see friends and relatives die from lack of healthcare for a while and then tell me how you feel.

They come here because we invite them and they are desperate. They have to go through pure hell to get here. Most of them would like to work a while and leave but their nation has turned into a narco-terrorist oligarchy and they will be robbed trying to get home.

It is up to us to fix this situation. Foolproof IDs. A guest worker program. Jail for cheaters on both ends of the labor market. It must be done and Bush is willing. We should help him. Just letting it go on and on the way is is is criminal and this nation shall be judged for it.

Walling them out is impossible. We love to fault the INS but they have been given an IMPOSSIBLE job.

"Everybody is against them but everybody enjoys their labor."

Are you aware of the financial cost to every US citizen from these illegal aliens? "enjoys" needs to be replaced with "pays for".

"I just don't think people are rational on this issue."

You prefer to allow these criminals to pay a small monetary fine and remain in the US?

What does this say to other foreigners who wish to emigrate to the US in a legal manner, obeying all of our immigration laws.

Yes, pity and sympathy are due to 'some' of these people but certain not all of them. Have you checked the jails and prisons for the alien percentages lately? Yes, this is an added cost also.

"Rational" doesn't seem to be the appropriate term. I think Americans who are disgusted with our politicians and law enforcement agencies for not fully enforcing the immigration laws are being pushed to become racists their own government.

Your comments are raciest. You sound like a Southern Slave owner before the Civil War. All the jobs done by illegals were done by honest law abiding citizens as little as 5 years ago. The only thing that has changed is that illegals will work for wages that Americans can’t afford to work for. This is also a result of all the taxes and regulations and workers comp that legal Americans have to pay for. With less taxes and regulations and other fees Americans would take these jobs.

You seem to have some kind of collective guilt issue's . I for 1 will pay more or grow my own . How difficult can it be ?

I still do not purchase anything made in France or China so scratch me and mine off of your collective guilt list .

****Are you aware of the financial cost to every US citizen from these illegal aliens?****

Less than paying full price for honest labor.

But at the same time the County hospitals near points of entry are being submerged. As are their counties. This is part and parcel of the disfunctionality of the system as it stands today.

Something must be done. A system must be put in place and followed. This would keep out the criminals that concern all of us as the foolproof ID could not be obtained by anyone with a criminal record. Jail time for people who hire non ID carrying wetbacks would be absolutely necessary to the system.

Those who say they do not benefit from illegal allien labor are just fooling themselves. Food costs alone would go up 50% if there were suddenly no illegals. Actually we could not produce the food we do without them so cost would not be as critical as actualy availability.

They are in every facet of food production and distribution. Every facet.

That goes the same for construction and service industry and manufacturing. If you don't know this you are not looking.

You are willfully ignorant. Grow your own. Sure. Everything. You ARE benefiting from cheap labor in a million ways. I bet you buy stuff at Walmart made in China by slaves.

I know these people are desperate. So are billions of other third worlders. Does that mean to you that we should let each and every one of the in and give them free health care? How do we survive as a nation with such a philosophy?

Mexico is well-off in terms of public health and per capita income when compared to most third world nations, so why do we give preference to its people? If you want to be Christian about it, you'd reward the people throughout the world who are being honest and applying for legal residency, and you'd also be in favor of giving the most needy the first shot at available jobs.

You're wrong about us inviting them, they are invited by their illegal kin and friends. Most of the illegals are coming here to look for work, they don't have the job already secured. They have some friend, family member, or consular employee who is going to put them up and get them off on the right foot - you know, get them their fake IDs, show them how to enroll their kids in school and free lunch programs, and how to use the ER for everything from a hangnail on up.

You are dead right. That is why SOMETHING must be done. As far as other nations .... they don't share a border with us. (you would be shocked if you knew how many illegal Canadians are in the US)

The situation as it stands is immoral and an offense to Christian values

Where does "thou shalt not steal" rank on your list of Christian values? What the illegals are doing is stealing the opportunity of another person (who is soliciting entry by legal means) to come and work in the United States. Illegals are the big engine driving identity theft, that's not exactly Christian behavior, either. Especially when you get stuck with the IRS tab for that illegal's wages.

It's crazy to think we can just fence them out. Our economy needs their labor like we need oil from the ME. The situation as it now stands is ridiculous and immoral from every aspect.

Those who just hate illegals are irrational. We cannot function without them. If you think otherwise you are just completely uninformed. Go to the factories and jobsites and take a good long look. Step back in the kitchen of nearly every restaurant. Look at your gardener.
###########################################

You have fallen for the outright lies advanced by the pro-criminal leftists and one world anti-sovereignty elitists. The jobs you name were all being done before the 12 million criminals came here and took them away from Americans.

By artificially inflating the labor pool, some people get cheap labor but the society subsidizes them in several ways. First the general population is forced to provide social services to the displaced workers who used to do those jobs. Blacks and poor whites are the hardest hit, and the welfare rolls increase as the criminals displace them.

Secondly, the general population pays for social services for the criminals who are not willing to pay their own way. We provide them with healthcare, admission to government schools, translation services because they are too lazy to even learn English, police and fire protection etc. All this cost money and is paid by citizens and legal residents.

Thirdly, these criminals bring third world diseases into the country that legal immigrants do not bring, because people with these diseases are excluded from entering the country legally. The whole society pays as these diseases are spread from the criminals to the unsuspecting non-criminal population.

Fourthly, we pay because these criminals commit other crimes as well as immigration crimes. Criminal aliens commit non-immigration crimes at roughly twice the rate as natives and three times the rate of non-criminal immigrants. This is a tremendous drain on society.

We also pay as respect for the rule of law degenerates. Poor, young, blacks, whites, and other natives displaced by criminals, turn to crime to supplement their meager income from government handouts. They see criminals taking the jobs that provided a living for their parents and grandparents and see no reason why they should obey the law when aliens break it with no consequence.

The criminal aliens also vote for bigger government, socialism and special privileges for themselves. They vote against conservatives and replace them with far left socialists as they did in Orange county CA. Bob Dornan was voted out of office by criminal aliens and replaced with a leftist who supports the criminals.

We need our elected and appointed officials to do their jobs, like they swear to do, and enforce the laws. Prosecute the criminal aliens as well as the people who illegally hire them, prosecute those who harbor them, and prosecute those who conspire to aid them in their criminal activity. The “Justice” Department should also use the RICCO laws to confiscate the possessions of the criminals who profit from hiring criminal aliens.

RICCO forfeiture laws should be used to confiscate Tyson Foods, Inc’s and Wal-Mart, Inc’s assets. They should also be used to confiscate the homes, bank accounts, etc., of smaller businesses and homeowners who hire the criminals to work around the house.

Two or three cases where companies and individuals lose everything because they hire criminal aliens and people would stop doing it. Then all we have to do is cut off social services for the criminal aliens and the problem would be solved. If they can’t get social services and can’t work they will go home in a hurry.

The U.S. isn’t supposed to be a cesspool where countries dump their criminals. It’s a privilege to come here, or at least it used to be. We should only accept the best, the brightest and the most law-abiding applicants. Criminals need to stay out.

This seem like the way to go. If we let these stay wont we be doing this every year? Seems to me we did something like this before. I do not see why they keep saying we need these people here to be maid etc. Heck my folks had maids and they were always people who were born in this country. Many were high school girls just getting extra money and some were just women that wanted a little extra money. My mother was ill, so she needed help.I do not understand this problem.

we have forced them into a slave labor condition

of all the pictures and video I've seen of illegal aliens walking through the arid Southwest, I've never seen anybody with a bayonet walking behind them. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. The decision to leave their poverty-stricken villages in Mexico is theirs, the decision to cross the desert in 120 degree heat is theirs, their decision to break our laws and butt in line ahead of someone else is theirs. You act like these people are complete puppets and have no role in their own destiny, that's hardly humane or Christian of you to see people in that light.

So, they are not acting in a Christian manner so I can treat them like shit. That's your position?

These people are just people. From a disadvantaged land where they have been crapped on for several generations. You can't expect them to look at all our wealth and fat lifestyle (compared to them we are all fat cats) and not take advantage of our healthcare and schools.

Again. We must have a system for legalizing their labor. Not make them citizens. Just a system whereby most of the ills listed in the thread may be addressed. Or at least make a start at addressing them.

The idea that they can just be got rid of and kept out is just silly and naieve. It ain't gonna happen.

this is the uncomfortable question no public official wants to respond to - how can you give amnesty and be fair to all those people who have been waiting patiently for years for their chance?

We must have several million laborers of the type we now refer to as illegals and that is just a plain fact.

No it isn't a fact. If employers don't have illegals to hire they will raise the wage rates until enough Americans apply for the jobs. Supply and demand. Yes, some unnecessary jobs will vanish -- we won't have such elaborate flower gardens in our median strips, but so what?

Also, Hutterite farmers have about eleven kids per family and they will expand their numbers until they growing all the crops we need.

a system is already in place -- why not just follow it? Also, what database would you suggest be searched to find Mexicans' criminal history? There's no way to do a proper background check on Mexican criminals' crimes in Mexico. Are we supposed to foot the bill for the creation and maintenance of the database? We already have an administration which is unwilling to do workplace enforcement, so what makes you think they would suddenly do their duty with a guest worker program in place?

You are silly. Why don't we just shut down the country?

Your position is tatamount to believing the earth should be flat because round is inconveinient. Or the USA was founded on Christian values by mostly Christians so we should Christianize the Constitution and government.

Yes those are impossible and stupid scenarios but no moreso than your whole scenario as you posted.

All it takes is the national will do do something. My idea is foolproof IDs. Hell, put a chip in their asses I don't care. AND tough penalties for those who hire non ID bearing workers. AND jailing illegals once the ID system is in place.

No more free healthcare. No voting by non-citezens. No more dragging in all your cousins and living in two rooms. No more criminal because criminals could not get the ID.

Fer God's sake Bush wants to fix this GD awful system. I don't hear any ideas form anyone else. Let's help him.
