People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion.

Is it PC to stereotype people like this?

Does that mean Dean is also opposing abortion, the number one cause of the Left Wing Socialist Democrat Party? What is he going to say to the Dem's lawyers, the ACLU?

"Christ was someone who sought out people who were disenfranchised, people who were left behind," Dean told the Globe

That's what Dean thinks about himself. Delusional and Messianic, no wonder the Techno-RATS are supporting him.

...Remember Jesus said, `Render unto God those things that are God's but unto Caesar those things that are Caesar's.'"

Jesus was talking about paying your taxes. I bet Howard Dean was talking about the SAME thing...

This guy does pander, doesn't he?

i can't wait till he gets asked questions about his flip-flops or his sealed records.
The veins will pop in his neck & forhead, he'll scream and shout and cast aspersions on the questioner...then the questioner should be asking how this behavior fits in with his newfound religeous experience.

"People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion. It's a very personal private matter, and that's the tradition I was brought up in."

People kept their religion private in most of the United States, and certainly in national politics whenever they could till that fool Jimmy Carter started babbling about being "born again".

Yes, I know JFK had to speak on the "Catholic Issue" but that was a matter of necessity, not a choice, and once elected he stopped blabbering about it.

"Howard Dean described himself as a committed believer in Jesus Christ...."

Really.

The demons also believe, and tremble(James 2:19).

A huge chunk of Dean supporters in paricular, and Dems in general, abhor relegion. Most certainly eschew it (except for those paying lipservice to it.)

Proud atheists or agnostics, many.

These are the people who sneered at their parents' faith, who ridicule Christians and Jews for their faith in God, who laugh at God's people because they don't buy into the liberal litany of faith: evolution, global warming, collective egalitarianism.

They simply look down their noses at people who would believe in God and the Bible.

It would be at least embarassing to them for their friends to know that their candidate believes in God and the Bible (not that I believe Dean is for a nanosecond sincere in anyway about this.)

People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion.

Great Steve Taylor lyrics on the exact topic...

It's A Personal Thing

The press conference
It's a personal thing, and I find it odd
you would question my believing in a personal God
I'm devout, I'm sincere, ask my mother if you doubt it
I'm religious, but I'd rather not get radical about it
the old-time believers had timidity and grace
but this new generation doesn't know its place
you're entitled to believe, but the latest Gallup Poll
says you mustn't interfere--that's the government's role

chorus:
'Cause when you throw your hat in the bullring
before you know it's a personal thing
and when he comes to the day of reckoning
he's gonna tell 'em, "uh, uh, uh, it's a personal thing"

The nomination speech
It's a personal thing, and I boldly state
that my views on morality will have to wait
'til my personal life's out of the public eye
and the limitations statue can protect my alibi
I'm devout, I'm sincere, and I'm proud to say
that it's had exactly no effect on who I am today
I believe for the benefit for all manking
in the total separation of church and mind

(chorus)

The victory night
It's a personal thing, and I plainly speak
(from the same code of ethics that I held last week)
as I promised if elected this election day
with the help of God almight...I'll do it my way

"He fought against self-righteousness of people who had everything . .

Odd statement, coming from the one who was brought up on the silver spoon of eastern Long Island's exclusive country clubs, where the members have "everything"

I feel certain that God is very pleased to be part of Dean's new political strategy.

There is only ONE word to describe Dean for doing this: IMPOSTOR.

Dean has argued for nothing but the separation of church and state, and not the protections of religious freedom that the Constitution guarantees. He has belittled southerners- telling them not to vote based on "religion" or matters which concern religion like "gays"- that they should leave those issues for the secular elites like him to sort out. And now he thinks he can sprinkle some "God talk" into his speeches (while misinterpreting Jesus's example) and win over the faithful. This is crass pandering; the bottom line is that Dean snickers at the faithful behind their back and opposes them on everything from abortion to gay marriage.

There is only one thing that southerners dislike more than a patronizing secularist. That is- an IMPOSTOR.

"He fought against self-righteousness of people who had everything . . .
"Having everything" is not what makes one self-righteous. Dean's linking the two shows both his ignorance of Jesus' teachings, and his liberal credentials.

Of course, it is possible that Dean links the two because of his own experience - he "has everything", and he's self-righteous.

He was a person who set an extraordinary example that has lasted 2000 years, which is pretty inspiring when you think about it."
Pretty inspiring? When you think about it? What, did Algore give him that line???

I wonder if Dean knows that being "pretty inspired" is not the same thing as being a Christian. I doubt it.

Hmmm, Dean rails against "self-rightousness" (but only about "people who have everything", which I deduce means "the rich"), then says "when you think about it" regarding Christ, as if he's one of the few to "think about" this, and he's now advising the rest of us to take a moment to ponder. Does it get more self-righteous?

BTW, this stuff about "it's a private matter" and such, is because a journalist on Chris Matthews' Sunday show said his hot tip was that the other dem nominees were going to start attacking Dean for being "aggressively secular" and not belonging to a church, and his wife does not belong to a synogogue. Just like clockwork out he comes with this tripe.
