TEHERAN - Iran will accept aid from all foreign countries except Israel following a devastating earthquake that killed some 25,000 people in the southeast of the country, interior ministry spokesman Jahanbakhsh Khanjani said Saturday quoted by the official news agency IRNA.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran accepts all kinds of humanitarian aid from all countries and international organizations with the exception of the Zionist regime” (Israel), Khanjani said.
Observers noted that the United States had not been excluded.
The spokesman said Iran urgently needed sniffer dogs and machines that would detect eventual survivors, along with medicines, blankets, tents and prefabricated houses.

The headline reminds me of that commercial where the guy wants to make sure he's gotten the be$t quote for his plumbing problem, and his basement is completely flooded and the family Dachshund pup goes floating by.

My first response is that we should offer Iran all the assistance it can handle with the stipulation that Isreali assistance also be allowed.
But, after thinking about it for a few miniutes, I think we should still offer as much assistance as is possible since the people of Iran are the ones who are suffering. This should have nothing to do with politics. Besides, the people will remember the help that we gave them.
I can see it now... A who flight line of USAF C-17's flying in loaded down with humanitarian aid and personnel...

Nonetheless, I suspectn that in the days ahead Israel will be delivering a few presents to Iran.

I'm inclined to say to hell with the lot of them, but it's the people who are suffering and the regime that's looking the gift horse in the mouth.

Israel owes the Persian people for a past help, a very long time ago.
That the Mullahs do not want it, and refuse now
only shows the Mullahs contempt for .... the Persian people.
No surprise there.

Agree.
Humanitarian aid in this kind of disaster supercedes politics and red tape. It is the thousands of people who need the aid.

where are all these "islamic chartiable organizations" like Hamas and Islamic Jihad and al Kaida when muslims need them? Oh wait I forgot they only break things and kill people.
To: yonif
Nice. Tens of thousands of their own people dead and its a very important thing for them to announce who they won't accept aid from.
Just goes to show you what the Israeli's are really facing.

While most Iranians are not Arabs (and in fact are often at their throats), I think the principle applies, and this quote is what came to mind when I first saw this stipulation by the government of Iran contrasted with the tales of immense death and suffering in Bam:
"We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us." --Golda Meir

Let the Mullahs fix their own problems. If they weren't so involved in terror maybe they could use that money to fix their countries infrastructure to prevent another catastrophe such as this. But oh wait USA is more evil then earthquakes...
