I wrote to the news station about the use of the term "FETUS" --- Here's their reply:
Hi,
I'm glad you took the time to write us. I think it is essential in this
story to clarify that the child had not been born, and therefore the term
fetus is technically and scientifically correct in this situation.
The facts of this story are disturbing enough in and of themselves, and I
understand that it is easy to be emotionally affected by news such as this.
But it is my job to make sure the facts are clear before the emotional
elements of any story can be considered.
I think it's also significant to mention that one of Carolyn Simpson's
family members wrote the station expressing gratitude for our coverage of
this story and for posting the information about the memorial fund.

At least the family anticipates getting some money now that the story about the loss of the woman and her fetus is public. Apparently that's the meaning of compassion and sensitivity.
