If the Iranian military is working side by side with the Americans unloading those pallets, there must be SOME conversation. Unintended consequences could ensue, hopefully for the best.

Amen sister!

You just gotta believe that is the part of the domino theory for the Middle East. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya. Now Iran is being brought into the fold by an emergency beyond their capacity to handle on their own. Quietly, respectfully, the U.S. Armed Forces and others of the U.S. are there to assist when and where assistance is needed.

I've followed the thread through it contains all thought from best to worst views. That said, I will put my two cents in.

This is the best thing (the plane with goods and humanitarian aid) that could ever come out of a natural disaster. This is far bigger than politics - this is a compassionate moment in time. They (the Iranians) just talked to, and received help from the finest people (U.S.troops) in the world. They also saw the precision and demeanor of our troops in adversity. They saw the activity from the bottom up. I pray they will relize the spirit in which this was delivered, and imagine the truth about us. I hope this lets the common people of Iran move away from the axis of evil. This needs to be understood. for if it is not, and you play us for weak,(and think America is a target) and fools for bearing an olive branch by coming to the aid of your country, Stand by. If your government continues to endanger the freedom enjoyed by America for any action upon your government's bequest, relize that all that you saw and can ever imagine, will be turned upon you. My country's freedom will not be endangered, we will pull the plug to stop whatever threatens us.

Hopefully, this will be a moment in history that will be remembered as the beginning a new relationship with the United States of America in a positive light. Much can be gained by both sides. My hat is of to President Bush and his administration, for the approach being taken.

If anybody wonders if time really changes anything, let me ask - Isn't Japan sending troops to Iraq as this is being typed? Did we think we'd ever be allies in a campaign? Yet the campaign can go either way for Iran, the choice is their's to choose wisely, or foolishly, from this day forward.

Yeah, especially if some of those conversating were CIA, essentially saying to selected people 'let's keep in touch.'
