why was it OK to take in unlimited quantities of Irish and Italians 100 years ago, but heavily restrict Mexicans today.

100 years ago, taxpayers were NOT paying to *translate* everything into Itailian.......Yea, mexicans are *so heavily restricted today* that EVERY STATE has to 'press 1 for English'.

After all, most Irish immigrants back then were poorer and more illiterate than a lot of the mexicans. what is your rationale and the moral justification?

I don't believe you. if this was about welfare you'd be dismantling the welfare state instead of black-sheeping immigrants. this is about keeping "wetbacks" OUT. pure and simple.
