If this is authenticated, it's the first solid, publically disclosed evidence that Al Queda does have WMD, and that they're in this country. It places a whole new urgency in ferreting them out. I get the feeling that this was deliberately leaked for several possible reasons.

I don't know about "good". WND posts lots of good articles, but they are NOT trustworthy (unfortunately) as a primary source, nor do they follow editorial practices that permit a rational evaluation of this story's credibility. See my comments preceeding. So far there is no independent confirmation of this story that I can find, so, who knows?
