And a few weeks later on Oct. 25, as he appeared to be winning his re-election bid.....

That ain't the way I remember it at all ... I do believe that he was loosing in the polls to his republican challenger.

The Columbia Political Review (hardly a conservative outlet) said in October of 2002 that Coleman was ahead 4-6 poiints, and that Wellstone, who had NEVER gotten more than 50% of the vote in any election, was pretty certain to be defeated.
