TROUBLE IN THE HOLY LAND
Egyptian media thrash Palestinians
'You have cast shame and disgrace on yourselves and your cause'

The Egyptian press – normally supportive of the Palestinian cause, despite the constant terror tactics used to advance that cause – is now lashing out at Palestinians in the strongest terms in memory.

Why? A group of Palestinians attacked Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher during his recent visit to the al-Aqsa Mosque on Israel's Temple Mount. The mob cursed the Egyptian diplomat, threw shoes at him, and called for the resumption of Jihad, or holy war, in Egypt. Maher's attackers reportedly belonged to Hizb Al-Tahrir, the "Islamist Liberation Party."

Egypt's media exploded in condemnation of the attack on their envoy, but they also went much further, many virtually condemning the Palestinian cause itself, or at least the manner in which it is being pursued.

Here is a sampling of that nation's press reaction, as translated and provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI:

Once again, we realize that the Arabs are their own worst enemy - just as the worst enemy of the Palestinian cause is the Palestinians, who have endorsed a policy of refusal and fundamentalist extremism as a way of behavior.

Someone gets it.

Everyone - even "the Arabs" - knows that the Palis have gone over the cliff with their nihilistic and dysfunctional society.

How can we, the Egyptian columnists who every day defend the rights of this people by confronting the Israeli aggression, [how can we] explain this despicable act?...

Stop supporting a bunch of intolerant, blood-thirsty, terrorist losers. Would be a place to start......

They are reaping the harvest of the murder and hatred that they have preached. The sociopaths will stop at nothing, killing is their only joy in a joyless life.

Nothing like a good mugging to change a liberal into a conservative.

I'm getting the impression that new-found freedom of the press in the Arab world is causing the number of opinions to multiply. Maybe that's good, if true. However, I can't help but think that this level of resentment would be appropriate for the next suicide bombing of innocent Israelis, as well.

Once again FR has help me increased my vocabulary.
Very fitting word to describe the Palestinians.

nihilistic:

1>Philosophy.
a.An extreme form of skepticism that denies all existence.
b.A doctrine holding that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated.
2>
Rejection of all distinctions in moral or religious value and a willingness to repudiate all previous theories of morality or religious belief.
3>
The belief that destruction of existing political or social institutions is necessary for future improvement.
4
also Nihilism A diffuse, revolutionary movement of mid 19th-century Russia that scorned authority and tradition and believed in reason, materialism, and radical change in society and government through terrorism and assassination.
5>
Psychiatry. A delusion, experienced in some mental disorders, that the world or one's mind, body, or self does not exist

Could this mean that Egypt is finally getting some moral lessons thru their thick skulls as to who the enemy of peace is in Israel?

You're right, but lets see how long this outrage lasts.

Wonder what the reaction is of the Pali lovers in "Old Europe".

The mob cursed the Egyptian diplomat, threw shoes at him,

That's a major-league insult in the arab world. It is saying to the target "you are less than the s--t beneath my feet". This insult will have some severe reverberations in Egypt.

The palies made a severe mistake here. The Egyptians have supported paliterrorism for many decades.

I guess they never heard the proverb, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you".
