[history]
Before the past year vanishes into the mists of memory, I wanted to write about an event that was one of my 2003 highlights. I wasn't able to get to it at the time, and I return to it now because it was so moving and, I think, part of something that may one day move our nation in a more life-affirming direction. Late last October I heard Jennifer O'Neill speak at a Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater Portland gala. In fact, at dinner, I sat next to the "Summer of '42" star and "Cover Girl" cosmetics spokeswoman.

She became pregnant. "I was very excited about having this baby . . . ," O'Neill said. "And I went down to Wall Street and . . . said, 'We're going to have a baby.' And all of a sudden I was looking at this person that I didn't even recognize, and he said, 'I'm not going to have a baby with you. You're going to have an abortion.' " THis shows you why men are more in favor of aboriton than women are.

Thanks for posting this. It shows what happens all too often, it is not the woman's "choice" at all, it is the choice of the lazy, selfish, people around her.
I salute Jennifer O'Neill for telling her story and emphasizing this aspect of abortion.

My wife (since 1983) was forced to get an abortion by her
first husband, back in 81.He told her it was get an abortion
or get killed, and her body left in the desert. I have Never met more than one woman who ever spoke of abortion who made
that choice by herself. And that one chose her life of
sex and drugs over motherhood--until doctors refused to give
her any more abortions--and the State tried to remove a child endangered by a mothers drug abuse. Taught me much about this purported womans right to choose.the Declaration
of Independence speaks of the unalienable right to life.Abortion is all about dead babies.

"Somewhere inside a woman, no matter what they're told, even if it's convenient, she can't accept herself as she's killed her own child. That's the damage that's done to the individual left behind."
I agree.
What the abortionists don't tell women, is what will hurt them later on. The most effective tool of the devil is rationalization.
whether pro-life or pro-abortion, the women that has made the choice to kill her own child, will never get over it. She is forced to rationalize the act, or feel the shame of it for the rest of her days. It may not affect her right away, but over time, it will affect her. That is what you call natural law.
One of my daughter's friends, had gotten an abortion when she was 17, it left her scarred and barren. As she stated to us, this one act of selfishness made her unable to have children - ever. She is very very bitter. She felt that from the school nurse to the abortionist, they told her lie after lie.
There have been no accurate after abortion statistics kept. How many women have had infections that left them sterile? How many women sufftered emotionally? How many women have died?
If those statistics had been kept, a vast majority would be pro-life.

Is the Oregonian a party to the FreeRepublic settlement agreement?
Is that why you excerpted so little it's nigh impossible to tell what this story is about?

My apologies....looks like the Admin Mod excerpted it. I guess the Oregonian is owned by the LA Slimes.

Wow, that's like reading my own life story... Jennifer has done a wonderful thing.

Mother Theresa made a statement, and I don't remember the exact quote, that went something like: what hope is there for mankind when women are willing to kill babies?

Then there are those of us that didn't want the abortion, but whose fiancee/future wife did. I am male and I am strongly anti-abortion just for this reason. Never having had the joy of raising children because the woman you loved didn't want any makes for a empty life.

I seriously doubt that.

I'm with you on that...he's my poem...
I've got a son that never came.
One that flew kites and arrow-planes.
One that danced in the springtime rains.
Don't know why or who's to blame.
But I've got a son that never came.
Bullfrogs and butterflies he'll never see.
He'll stroll through an open field, but not with me.
There was a time his heart beat strong.
It beat with rhythm as in a song.
And to me his love belonged.
Don't know why or what went wrong.
But there was a time his heart beat strong.
It's left in my mind and my heart will tease.
There's no love in my life for my son and me.
Before I had a chance to fight.
They took my son up a flight.
To a room to take his life.
Don't know why I had no rights.
Before I had a chance to fight.
Then five months early they stole him from his womb.
Laid him in a corner and watched him die in his tomb.
But for one split second I thought I heard him cry...
"I'm gonna have to leave you now. I love you Dad. Goodbye."

I had to wipe away some stuff from my eyes before responding. Your eloquent poem resonates with life. G-d bless you.
When you have a moment, say a prayer for the safe return of Joey Bianchimano, formerly with the 7th Marines, 1st Batallion. He's on his way back to Iraq for his second tour. Got the Bronze Star on his first tour. Now with some SpecOps.
Freedom is not free, it is warriors like Joey that ensure it.
