Conservatives would abolish the Department of Education. It would be nice to have some conservatives in DC.

I think most conservatives would rather fight for control of the DEd. This is why there is no lobby for making government smaller; only lobbies for pushing the government in various directions.

I think taking control of the Dep. of Ed. by conservatives is a great idea... if taking control of it means that there wouldn't be federal meddling in each state's school systems.
