[history]
January 3, 2004 -- So exactly what was Rep. Chris Shays talking about when he essentially urged people to stay away from New York City on New Year's Eve? "I wouldn't go to Times Square. That is my opinion. It is one based on the reality that the government has declared a Code Orange," Shays (R-Conn.) declared.

"Chris Shays May Switch Parties"
Yesterday wouldn't be quick enough!
The CPUSA might be a good place for him.

People worry too much about terrorism in this country. Since 9-11 we've lost perhaps 3400 people (3000 on 9-11 itself and 400 or so soldiers in Iraq). In the same period we've had over 120,000 traffic fatalities, 58,000 murders (mainly in this country's inner cities) and 90,000 suicides. No one has ever claimed that the traffic fatality rate was going to bring this country to its knees. But just say the world terrorism and people are ready to shred the constitution, anoint the president as dictator in chief, and willingly endure 3 1/2 hour checkins at the airport. It's not worth it. We're not all that scared. There's no reason to blow off the constitution for a death toll that doesn't begin to approach the traffic fatality rate, which most of us don't give a second thought to.

"On top of that, he added: "I wouldn't be flying from Europe to the U.S. in an airplane." "
I do not think a helicopter could make the trip!
Maybe he could get a zeppelin.

The outrage over this remark is getting on my nerves. Chris Shays is a sorry individual and is the poster boy for RINOs in the House, but come on already.

From another thread.
To: Recovering_Democrat Let us not forget that Shays was one of 5 rinos in the House that voted against impeaching the traitor Clinton.

He also doesn't have any Y chromosomes either, but I don't see the Post writing lead editorials about that...as if it comes as news to anyone that he's a wuss...
