So, when Gov. Granholm asks "What would Jesus do?", He answers, "Raise taxes".

>>that some so-called Christians preferred to cut money from some social services rather than yield on the $77 million state income tax cut....and gave it a thump.
Citing those who cloak themselves in a cape of religiosity as some of the biggest cutters, Granholm quotes chapter and verse where the Lord says, Whatsoever you do to the least of these, so also you do unto me. <<
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day- Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.
Get it through your head Ms. Granholm you "better than thou" heathen.

Whatsoever
you do, Granholm.
Does it still count if you give other people's money?

**not to mention a lifelong practicing Catholic, who says she personally agrees with her churchs stand on abortion, but believes that its OK for anyone else who might want to use it to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.**
But her stand here is not Catholic and does not represent the Catholic faith in any way.

"Do NOT take the Lord's name in vain" coes to mind here.
I always thought this Commandment had nothing to do with cursing but telling someone that Jesus would be on the side of the devil in some things.

She broke a $200 million deal with Plymouth philanthropist Bob Thompson that would have built 15 charter high schools in Detroit. More recently she has promised to do whatever the majority of Detroit Democrat lawmakers want, so she may not sign legislation permitting a March election to decide who runs Detroit schools.
Wow...it's like Jennifer could be "dancing on the trapdoors of hell" by keeping those poor, black kids locked in hideous schools that teach them NOTHING!!!

Charity is not given at the point of a gun nor is it by the coercion of governments. Charity is meant to come from the individual. If charity were the result of government taxes, then the USSR would have been the most Biblical of them all.

Did we not have a situation recently where a governor wanted to raise taxes and said it was the Christian thing to do?

I don't know, Thou Shalt Not Steal comes to mind. Granholm needs to remember that the money is forcibly taken from citizens against their will and by threat of jail.

I believe you are correct to see that "so called" christians who transform the Social Gospel into a Government run gospel are the worst kind of CINOs..
I believe Jesus taught.. that charity was a Personal Thing and not up to the goverment. So how did his teachings get so hijacked.. into a goverment commanded responsibility?.. He actually had contempt for the ruling Roman government as far as I can see.
He also had contempt for the ruling religious government who put heavy burdens and requirments on the people and taught them crap religion.

Can't recall anywhere in the Gospels where Our Lord demands that taxes be levied for redistribution by a government bureaucracy.

I agree, and a tax cut that puts money in people's pockets...what's wrong with that???

She also "cut" the budget by doubling my Professional Engineer's license fee.
What kind of politician would bring a Bible to a press session? Answer: One who already knows the nature of the questions she'll be asked.

Jesus said "whatever YOU do", not "whatever the government does", or "whatever Rome does". The Bible puts the responsibility on the individual, not the State.
