[history]
A new Bank of America program allowing Mexican nationals in the United States to wire cash home has raised concern among law enforcement officials and others who question whether it also gives terrorists and drug smugglers a new way to route illicit cash out of the country.

It appears like it's time to hit Bank of America with a Boycott and e-mail campaign. With the ever increasing identity theft, terrorism, money laundering, and drug trade industry. This is the last thing a bank needs to be involved in. We need to get Bank of America phone numbers and email addresses, so we can let them know that the American public will not stand for it.

http://www.vdare.com/malkin/clueless.htm "President Bush nominated banker Eduardo Aguirre to head the Department of Homeland Securitys Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Oh, but not to worry. The INS spokeswoman tells me the bankers management experience24 years at Bank of America, two years at the Export-Import Bank, and a stint as a University of Houston regent under then-Gov. George W. Bush will inspire loyalty.
Moreover, she tells me, hes a can-do guy"

Don't stop with the Bank of America, this is also happening at Wells Fargo and others. And it makes great business sense to a pure Capitalist.
The problem is as pointed out...this is a lousy program to pursue from a security standpoint. I wonder of DHS ought not get involved here?

Ahhhhh, so nice to see that our "friends" to the south continue to suck us dry.
How charming.

Remittances to Mexico in 2002 totalled US$12 Billion.
I wonder by how much that will increase now that it's easier to do?

I'm not certain, but I believe Bank One has a program like this as well. There are probably others .

Bank of America spokeswoman Terry Bolling said SafeSend complies with federal law, including the USA Patriot Act, in requiring proper identification to open an account...I wonder if the Matricula Consular constitutes "proper identification"?

I gave up on banks a long time ago. Find a good Credit Union, and deep six your bank.
