MoveOn Freudian Nazi Ad
FrontPageNagazine.com ^ | 1/06/04 | Tammy Bruce

Posted on 01/06/2004 12:53:04 AM PST by kattracks

The Leftist extremists now in charge of the Democratic Party are either so desperate or delusional they are now comparing this nation to Hitler’s Third Reich and the president to Hitler himself.

The Moveon.org Voter Fund has sponsored a commercial ‘contest’ encouraging people “to help us find the most creative, clear and memorable ideas for ads that tell the truth about George Bush's policies.” Two of those submissions ran on the Moveon.org site and directly compared George W. Bush to Hitler and this nation’s policies with the Third Reich.

Upon seeing the ad, one has to ask, do they really believe this garbage? Are they so ill that they really think this, or are they so ill that they don’t believe it but are willing to subject this nation to the accusation? Either way you look at it, it is beyond the pale, to say nothing of obscenely absurd.

Hitler’s Third Reich was a nation that invaded nations to enslave them and murdered tens millions of people worldwide. 12 million people died in the Nazi death camps. Ultimately, 61 million lives were lost because of Adolph Hitler’s Jew-hatred and desire for world conquest.

And George W. Bush? Two nations liberated from despotic rulers who terrorized, tortured and murdered their own people. Afghanistan has just completed its Constitution bringing the Afghan people closer to democracy and freedom.

The people of Iraq are free from wood chippers and plastic shredders for men, rape rooms for women, and can only now recover their loved ones from mass graves and lay them to true rest. Freedom and democracy will be theirs soon.

The liberation of two nations lost and condemned to hopelessness and misery. The inclusion of women in government, schooling for girls, a free press, choosing one’s own government, the joy and hope only democracy can bring.

All at the cost of under 500 American lives. While I cringe at one American death, so few comparatively make a statement about the capabilities of this nation, our military, and our intentions.

The people at Moveon.org and similar malevolent leftists in this nation are hoping to make others like them happy with an agenda meant to color  this monumental human liberation success story as a depraved failure. I shudder to think about the type of person who is disgusted by freedom, democracy, success and happiness. I shudder at today’s leftists.

One person probably quite pleased with such outrageous obscenity is Moveon.org’s $5-million-dollar-man, their major funder billionaire leftist George Soros.

When Ed Gillespie, chair of the Republican National Committee, expressed outrage over the Hitler commercials and said the organization should apologize, Moveon.org agreed that the ads were in “poor taste” and that they didn’t “support the sentiment.”

Really? That’s odd considering the comparison of Bush to Hitler, while disgusting, is not new or surprising. It was an analogy first introduced by their man Soros himself.

In a November 2003, Washington Post interview, Soros introduced the comparison of Bush to Hitler.

Soros said he believed the White House was guided by a "supremacist ideology," and "America, under Bush, is a danger to the world . . . When I hear Bush say, 'You're either with us or against us,' it reminds me of the Germans . . . My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitized me."

He seemed determined to set an undeniable tone and agenda. Why wouldn’t the individuals vying for a commercial to air not want it to mirror the thoughts and attitudes of the organization’s primary funder?

With Soros pouring tens of millions into what he has declared a life and death effort to defeat the president, there is also another possible answer to the depraved and vile nature of this ‘new’ Democratic approach—a malignant narcissist projecting his own demons onto the political landscape.

In my book The Death of Right and Wrong, I describe elements in the canon of the psychological underpinnings of “projection” by malignant narcissists. The definition of projection from orthodox psychology texts explains this as projecting one’s own unconscious or undesirable characteristics onto an opponent.  As an example, an aggressive man accuses other people of being hostile or a cheat who is sure that everyone else is dishonest.

Why do I bring this up regarding Soros, his obsession with George W. Bush and bizarre analogy of our president with Jew-hating, control freak and country-destroyer Hitler?

Consider his own remarkable admission. Soros, who is Jewish, in a speech to the Jewish Funders Network astoundingly blamed the cause of anti-Semitism on Israel and then on himself.

After blaming Israel and the U.S. for causing anti-Semitism and citing the Malaysian prime minister’s statement that the “Jews rule the world by proxy,” Soros then confessed, "I'm also very concerned about my own role because the new anti-Semitism holds that the Jews rule the world. As an unintended consequence of my actions," he said, "I also contribute to that image."

Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation league appropriately called Soros’ remarks “obscene” and declared, "He buys into the stereotype. It's a simplistic, counterproductive, biased and bigoted perception of what's out there. It's blaming the victim for all of Israel's and the Jewish people's ills.”

Immediately after Soros’ remarks, Michael Steinhardt, the man who invited Soros to speak, took the podium and had this to say by way of an explanation (and Freudian slip) of the billionaire leftist’s apparent disdain for Jews: "George Soros does not think Jews should be hated any more than they deserve to be."

That certainly clears everything right up.

For most of us, we use other people and actions as benchmarks of what, or what not, to become. I contend that jealousy and envy are at the heart of the terrorism we now face. It is felt by Arabs against Jews and Israel, because Israel, by counterpoint, exposes what the Arab world will never become—productive, progressive, and free. Israel shows them what they are not.

Radical Islamists hate us because we are beautiful, and with our existence provide a constant reminder of what relying on religion alone will never bring, let alone a religion which uses apartheid to segregate and discriminate against women. The United States, by simple counterpoint, reminds sick backward Islamic fundamentalists that they are sick backward Islamic fundamentalists.

And our very own homegrown leftists? I think it’s safe to say that George Soros and his newly bought minions hate and fear George W. Bush because he has something they never will and which cannot be bought-- integrity, compassion and courage. George W. Bush simply reminds leftists everyday what they will never be. And they hate him for it.

Ironically, the only person in this drama who is pointing fingers at and complaining about Jews while funding his own internal political machine with the sole agenda of bringing down a president is George Soros. Something strangely similar happened in 1933 Germany.

And here I was wondering why everyone at Moveon.org wears a brown shirt.

The Left has morphed into Brown Shirts. They really relish anger and hate more than love and compassion. For them what matters is not inspiring people but getting them to loathe every that's good and beautiful about America. At the same time its both frightening and revealing that 40% of the country would vote for their candidate no matter what. P.T Barnum never met today's Democrats.

I think this is the best article yet posted here on this subject. The Bush=Hitler comparison has become a demented fixation for the Left.

As a science fiction writer and fan, I am reminded of all those stories that postulated some future time in which a sizable part of the population would go stark staring mad. I believe that we are literally seeing this to come to pass, that the influence of the saturation media and its characteristic culture have finally reached a kind of critical mass. The result is an elaborate fantasy ideology, a script that must play itself out regardless of the consequences to its adherents.

I believe, in all seriousness, that the far Left is driving itself toward a violent showdown, the kind of gotterdammerung that is a standard archetype of all similar fantasy. Do these people literally believe that they are living in a new Reich? I submit that "literal belief" is meaningless to the far Left, adherence to the script is the all-consuming need.

I don't understand why more is not being made of the Dean/MoveOn.org connection. One of Dean's websites urged foreigners to donate to MoveOn since it wouldn't be legal for them to donate to him. Thus, he is complicit in these Hitler ads. Joe Lieberman ought to side with the ADL and Wiesenthal Center and be offended by the anti-semiticism in the ads and then bash Dean over the head with it. At the very least he could get Dean and Clark to renounce MoveOn and Soros.

The result is an elaborate fantasy ideology

Yep. And I agree, we are watching it happen right before our eyes.

I've long kept an eye on the Dem Underground. I've watched them progressively lose touch with reality. They finally reached a point right around the time Operation Iraqi Freedom kicked off where they no longer believed anything at all they saw on television. Many literally believed the entire war was a staged event (staged by Bush and cronies of course). All reporters worked for the Right Wing Conspiracy. All video was doctored. The US was losing thousands of troops and staged training accidents in the US to hide it etc etc. Madness.

Now, fast forward to the present. They don't believe Bush went to Baghdad on Thanksgiving (staged in the American desert). They don't believe Saddam was captured. They believe Osama is already captured. I even saw them speculate that Bush caused the earthquake in Iran and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

I like to study this phenomenom. It's very interesting. When we no longer believe what our eyes tell us (they don't believe the television news), when the accepted methods for receiving information are no longer to be trusted and when we have no way of determining the truth because of our geographic isolation, we lose our reference to reality. After this reference is lost, we have no way of redetermining what is real and what not.

I believe this is a key factor in the meltdown of the left. Add to that the paranoia they already have about the Right. Add to that the positive feedback loop in information and stimulus many experience by withdrawing from reality into their internet forum (all they receive is info and data that reinforces their own prejudices). Now we've got a recipe for lunacy.

They have really convinced themselves that Bush is Hitler. They really believe this. I was trying to find some threads over there where they discussed the MoveOn Hitler ads. I only found one so far, but from reading it, you begin to see that they actually don't get it. They're like "well, it's true". They really don't realize how insane they appear.

Bush drives the left wild. Look how they are after just three years. Can you imagine the state they'll be in after 8?

It is my experience as a university professor that Leftists, both students and faculty, are quite isolated from reality. They are often competent in their own fields, superficially articulate, and have great knowledge of cultural trends and political and ideological rhetoric.

At the same time, however, many of them lack even the most basic knowledge of what we might term "the real world." This is not just the nuts and bolts world of earning a living or managing a household, but the fundamental frame of reference that allows valid conclusions to be drawn from raw data.

For instance, it is well-documented that many students, and even professors, are profoundly ignorant of history and geography. I have said, on this board and others, that many of my students could not tell you within a century when the Civil War happened, or within an order of magnitude how many separate countries there are in the world. I was not exaggerating.

Those who are not technical specialists or science majors are often astonishingly ignorant of the basics in those areas. On the standard Texas teacher certification test, one of the questions a few years ago asked whether the Earth went around the Sun or vice versa. Almost a third of the would-be educators missed this one. Almost a fifth (18%) did not know whether the Sun or the Moon was closer to the Earth.

One teacher offered the sneering excuse that, "well, you can't expect people to know the fine details of your field." I said, "but that is not my field and it's not a fine detail, it was common knowledge when I was a kid." She said, "Of course it's your field. You're a geologist, aren't you?" True story.

Within my field, I often encounter students who have no conception of the dimensions of the Earth, asking for example whether nuclear explosions in Nevada could trigger earthquakes in the Middle East. Incidentally, a significant number believe that nuclear tests are still being carried out in Nevada.

Similarly, I have had occasion to discuss aviation safety with students. Many do not know that there are many thousands of airliners in the world, and hundreds of thousands of other aircraft. They think that there are fifty or sixty big commercial jets at most, which naturally causes them to vastly over-estimate the chance of an accident.

One young man was thoroughly confused about the retirement of the Concorde. He thought that there had been just one Concorde and "I'm sure it crashed a while back, in France or Paris or somewhere like that."

In short, these people are easy prey for fantasy ideologues. Ideas that are preposterous to us, like CIA generated earthquakes or massive airtight conspiracies, are perfectly credible to them.

"well, you can't expect people to know the fine details of your field."

That is astounding. You know, if it continues like that, eventually we'll see the same statistic and comment concerning whether the Earth is round or not.

I would be interested in hearing more from you- here and on future threads- about this theme. I am very interested in it and the implications of this phenomenom for our future. I am somewhat fascinated with Jean Baudrillard's ideas that reality is being replaced with a copy of reality and further by a copy of a copy of reality- to the point where we no longer have any cultural references. The end effect is we live in a sort of hyper-reality (as he describes it). He argued that Gulf War One did not take place, for example- that it took place in hyper-reality on television screens.

There's something to this idea. There was a recent article about cultural attitudes in the UK being shaped by American television and visual media. It was by Theodore Dalrymple and he pointed out a few very funny but troubling instances of this. For example, one young woman had an emergency and couldn't get the emergency services on the telephone because she dialed 911, when the emergency number is actually 999 in the UK. Others had people referring to "high school" (as in, they didn't do well in high school) when the UK doesn't have high schools.

It was very interesting but it is worrying as well.

They aren't 'mad', they're simply drones. The Lefties have a few leaders who pass the word on what to think and say, and the drones reinforce each other in following the party line.

What is truly mind-boggling is that these drones, who don't read the news nor history nor ever debate honestly, consider themselves 'intellectuals.'

Virtual reality is nothing new. Whoever visited East and West Berlin in a single day knows what I am talking about.

Totalitarian societies have set up the predefined rules for their subjects and the rules excluded real life. And people mostly ignored real life and played by the rules because it was easier and safer.

Subjects of totalitarian societies do it because they were forced. We do it out of our free will.

Oh, I don't think it's anything new. It goes back probably to the time of oral legends. The Hadith- the sayings of Mohammed were altered over time by different Caliphates to fit to the current political situation of their times. The Hadith has basically lost its value as a historical reference for Muslims because of this but they continue to use it of course.

Interesting to note that Soros is one of the major funders of The Democracy Project; a group that translates and distributes how-to guides, and helps with funding, computers and communications equipment for those working against totalitarian and authoritarian regimes. (Much the kind of thing the government under Ronald Reagan, and the AFL-CIO, did for Solidarity in Poland.)

IOW Soros, like Bush, is a liberationist, but has now revealed that his thirst for human freedom is entirely secondary to his hatred for Bush and his hate-driven partisanship. The liberation of tens of millions is hateful to him if accomplished by a Republican.

...at work, I agreed that we need more love & compassion and comparisons to Hitler/Nazi weren't right, but was reminded of the times I had the words, 'Hitlery' and 'fem-nazi' come out of my own mouth. After that I had to listen to my co-worker tell me how she saw similarities between Bush and his administration & Hitler/the Nazi Party. Sheesh. I should've remembered my own self!
