Yes, it is horrible no matter the circumstance.
There was a chemical plant explosion last week if i recall. Anyone hear followup on that? I am sure these accidents are fairly common, everyones awareness to it is just heightened now.

Looks to me like a really bad accident.
Another FReeper once said that terror attacks are designed to look like attacks, not accidents.
God forbid AQ get off another attack, but if they do, we won't need the news telling us it's an attack, we'll already know.

I am sure these accidents are fairly common, everyones awareness to it is just heightened now. They are. When I lived in Houston they happened all the time, and there would be at least a couple of really big explosions (i.e., shake the windows for miles around) every year.

I remember what appeared to be a large amount of shark attacks around Florida turned out to be two things - a normal number of shark attacks and a slow news summer. Combine the two, you get paranoia, and the media loves to feed off paranoia so it becomes a mini-circle.
