MIAMI, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The Florida social services agency has in custody an 11- year-old girl who police say is one of the youngest heroin peddlers they have ever arrested.
The Miami Herald reported Tuesday that the girl was arrested by South Miami police Friday night and subsequently turned over to the Department of Family Services.
Police and prosecutors have not decided whether to charge the girl, and will make that decision later in the week.
"Everything stems on Mom," said narcotics Sgt. Ruben Rodriguez.
He said the girl was making the sales for her mother, Alison Lolanda Davis, 36.
He said the girl had been seen selling $10 and $20 quantities of heroin to motorists while she was wearing her school uniform. He said she also sold from her house wearing a night gown.
Davis is being held on multiple drug possession and distribution charges.
