Legal or illegal, people will come to America because they have a dream of being free. It is up to us to find a way to make them a legal part of the system. Most important thing is that they become a participant in the system and the economy...work, pay taxes, and elect representation.

Illegal Illegal Illegal Illegal Illegal Illegal Illegal Illegal Do you want lawbreakers in this country? Suppose someone broke into your house because they needed a place to live?

It is up to us to find a way to make them a legal part of the system.Gotta disagree with you on this one. We already have a system in place to make them legal. It's up to them to exercise it. Otherwise - they're breakin' the law.

Let's factualize this sentence for our audience:
"Legal people will come to America because they have a dream of being free.
It is up to us to find a way to extradite them to the nearest border as part of the constitutional legal system.
Most important thing is that the legal immigrants become a participant in the system and the economy...work, pay taxes, and elect representation."
There. That didn't hurt did it? Facts never hurt anyone.

respect for our laws ought to be a minimum requirement for any immigrant. That eliminates illegals, who are the scum of an already corrupt society. We don't want a bunch of scofflaws.

I don't have a problem if that dream includes learning English, and eschewing their loyalty to the country they came from in favor of the country of their "dreams"

Hey, bring as many as we can... As long as WE don't have to pay for them. 10 years of job holding before you can draw on the social system would be a start...

No, it's not up to us to find legal ways for them to remain here if they are now law-breakers. They should go the route that every nation, including Mexico, requires for any immigrants--they have to go through the legal system of the nation to which they want to immigrate. If they do not go through this system of laws--they are here illegally and nothing will change that.
By the way, what is the "exit strategy" here? (RATS like exit strategies although they never seem to know what that means). How many illegals should get amnesty and then what happens (like it did last time), when millions more arrive and stay? Giving them amnesty simply means that millions more will then show up looking for freebies and ever more amnesties.

"
Legal or illegal, people will come to America because they have a dream of being free."Yeah, but free to do what? Unlimited access to America so they can perform another 9/11?
You portray the liberal view that ALL immigrants are desireable and noble, honest citizens-to-be. If people want to come to America to be Americans, fine and well, but to allow them to bring the baggage of their phony religions and customs that impoverished them in their native countries with them and hole up in ethnic ghettos when they get here is hardly the assimilation that is desired.
From what you espouse, the old mantra should be "Divided we stand, united we fall."
'Course, liberals seem to relish the prospect of destroying what made America great.

It is up to us to find a way to make them a legal part of the system. No, it's up to them to obey our laws and come here LEGALLY and become Americans, not sneak in and try to turn our Country into the same turdworld hellholes they left.

Most important thing is that they become a participant in the system and the economy...work, pay taxes, and elect representation. Yeah...there is a mechanism to make them a legal part of the system. It's called a Visa and Passport! I have one. Do you? I can't get on a plane or ship and go to another country without one!
Ther's also a mechanism to allow immigrants to vote. It's called Naturalization! It's called Citizenship! That means, an immigrant declares Loyalty to the United States of America. What is so hard to understand about that. Furthermore, why is it wrong to demand that immigrants who wish to enjoy the fruits of freedom become a legal part of the country which possesses that freedom. You tell me how I explain to the young people why the most powerful man in the world, the leader of the greatest nation to ever exist, proclaims it OK to ignore the Law.
Once the leaders of a nation openly state that the Law is NOT blind, we are lost as a people and a society.

The free-for-all at the borders must end or we are finished. No eloquent words or ideals with ever change that.
