He had no injuries. I wheeled around with the shotgun and he stopped short. I ordered him to drop the weapon and he wouldn't. I resolved right at that split second to shoot hiim if he didn't follow my next order. I ordered him to lie on the ground, and he complied -- still holding on to the weapon. He wouldn't give that up for some reason. I had one of the renters call 911.
I remember one very bad thing about that: A girl named Holly was in the firing zone. I had number 6 bird shot chambered, and she was behind the perp, watching. Just about every renter ran along to watch, it seemed. Holly was in the unfortunate position of being a berm should I have needed to fire. But I had no time to call out for her safety. I'm glad I was not forced to fire.
