"Hmmm.....then why did the great saint Reagan go for permanent amnesty....which Bush is not proposing? Oh how convenient it is to forget what past conservatives have done.

Reagan later remarked that it was one of the worst mistakes he ever made. Bush, after knowing what Reagan did and seeing the consequences, has decided to do it all over again. An Amnesty is an Amnesty by any other word. Last time I checked forgiving someones Illegal act was called an Amnesty, unless you read from some other dictionary.

Bush has essentially said that he views this nation as a labor market, not as the home of the American people. It is too bad as I had really admired W. He has placed ambition before the country and I fault him for this. He is just another opportunist.

Very insightful comment and well put. "The business of this country is business." This announced plan will result in a massive push by those outside the US to get in before the plan gets through Congress. It reminds me of the Haitians who were building their boats in anticipation of Clinton being elected. Clinton made all kinds of statements during the campaign about how he was going to treat the Haitians like the Cubans when it came to welcoming refugees to our shores. Of course that changed once Clinton got into office. The only reason we went into Haiti was to eliminate the proposition that Haitians were political refugees. Hence, we could return them back to Haiti.

This is a measured, pragmatic proposal that offers real world solutions to our critical, vexing illegal immigration challenges.

Anytime someone says "measured" or "pragmatic" when discussing taking MORE $$$ out of the collective US Citizen's wallet (read MINE), it is code for "Let's throw $$$ at the problem...maybe it will go away!"!

The current World situation demands something MORE than "measured" or "pragmatism"...it requires DIRECT action to defend our borders, laws and Culture!

Will you accept "measured" or "pragmatism" after a mule brings a dirty bomb over the border and wipes out several THOUSAND US Citizens? Because that is the Cowards way of mealy-mouth dealing with tough issues!

I support the program. I predict it will pass Congressional approval and court scrutiny.

From your lips to Satan's ear, as it were...I suspect that it will pass, because the curremt crop of Linguine-spined (R)'s have no stomach to do the right thing!

Your head may know explode.

It already has...the difference is, after the explosion, I can still see this sellout for what it is...you with an un-exploded head simply sip your Kool-Aide and watch as 200+ years of the greatest society the World has ever known disintigrates around you!

LOL.

What they forget, is that once we go down, it's a new dark ages--until some brave men or women try it again.

We were that shining city on the hill. And there is no country, currently, on this earth that can replace what America brought to this world.

Garbagemen make very good money for a job that requires no brains and just two legs, two arms, and a healthy back. It's not comparable to working 14 hours a day picking chicken shit for fertilizer for $3 an hour. You're truly insane if you think the two are equal.

I don't see many Americans picking fruit.

Oh no, but you're wrong! The blue collar white (only white) union man who makes $40,000 a year, a pension, and near-guaranteed lifetime employment courtesy of his fat union contract for delivering mail or picking up garbage or driving a truck surely is banging down the doors trying to make $3 to work 15 hours a day with no job protection and nearly no rights to pick cabbage or chicken doody for fertilizer in the blazing sun.

You KNOW for a fact that I am a long time supporter and

Get over yourself. We don't have a two-tier system here at FR, where money donors get special whitelist status.

Not logical. The south, where most slaves were, was agricultural. In the areas of immigration, mainly the north, industry reigned.

Who cares.

Here's a cookie. Happy now?

BTW, would two full donations be equal to four half donations?

You'll have to point out where the morality is in supporting the status quo of catching and returning only 80% of the undocumented border-crossers, where the remainder face a perilous sojourn to be perhaps abused, raped, robbed, or killed in the desert, only to make it through those dangers and then live in the insular shadows on the fringe of society in a constant state of fear and abuse and exploitation.

Pessimism?

Facts:

1. "Christian" bush said NOTHING when the ten commandments were ripped out of the courthouse. Judge Moore got ZERO public support from him.
2. "Conservative" bush has outspent Klinton. KLINTON! (even factoring out the war & 9/11).
3. We're at code "orange+." The muslims are extremely close to a 9/11 + strike and bush refers to islam as "the religion of peace." He just had an iftar dinner with KNOWN TERRORIST SUPPORTERS (again). He was roundly supported & elected by many muslim terrorists including Sami al-Arian.

There's lots more, but we now have him stabbing his core in the back on the immigration issue.

Facts, not pessimism.

Irrelevant. Republicans, not CONSERVATIVES, and not Americans.

He squeaked by with 537 votes. That's not a mandate. He's done so much damage to his base since then, there's no way he will be re-elected.

When you screw those who've supported you, trusted you, and voted for you, YOU LOSE.

BTW, I can tell you 100%, across the board ,I am not a DU troll or a liberal. No one dislikes DU or liberals more than me.

I may like the Constitution more than others here, but that should not make me a troll at Freerepublic, and it def. does not make me a liberal.

Don't bother...you are running into thne Torquemada crowd of Bush-Bots and (R)Uber Alles crowd (You all know who you are)...their purity test is the ability to swallow the Kool-Aide without choking, and still say "It's better than X being in charge!".

Proof? See how many of them are in favor of Jeb Bush in 2008! Nice to see the oligarchist/statist be outed, isn't it?

They are already wearing their slave collars, so just smile politely at their ignorance of true Conservatism, and don't look them in the eye or challenge their global group-think...it gets them riled, y'know!

When mujahadeen and hitlery tell us what they want to do with the country COUNT ON IT. It's horrible, but they are truthful about it.

bush says one thing, but then does the other.

I've never seen a political screwing like this, ever.

I believe if you look hard at the political scuffling leading up to the Davos summit, you will find there is also strain of globalist in the Republican party. Only they believe that the party should be run out of Washington, not Europe.

Or do I need to reprise the GH Bush groundbreaking policy speech to the graduating Midshipmen of Annapolis regarding the New World Order?

They are honest when it comes to what they would do with America.

We all know what would happen if they got in.

bush says one thing and does another, examples: immigration, prescription drugs for seniors, Israel, etc. etc.
