Baskerville: Actually, it is not my positions that are extreme but my "rhetoric" – specifically, the words I use to describe how government is systematically destroying families and fathers.

I've arrived at the same place. In fact, I was throwing a few bombs around in here last night. It's the only way to get the center to move.

John Knight and I used to talk about positioning advocates along a continuum. There are some old web sites still out there in which I am Mr. Reasonable. That was done on purpose, as a way of selling the same thing that Knight was selling, but in different packaging to different people. Ten years ago, what Baskerville wrote in that article on MND would only have been seen in one of those xeroxed newsletters that got mailed around to a membership of 36 angry white guys. I suppose in some sense there has been progress. Not enough, though. I think it's fair to say that things are still getting worse in the U.S.

I think the introduction of MensNewsDaily.com had an impact. There was finally a news site that actually reported the news and provided intelligent analysis and commentary related to this stuff. Before that, there was nothing but an infinite space in the so-called "mainstream" (old) media for dishonest people to spread propaganda. Gads it was weird. Every year that went by in which no challenge to the nonsense was allowed, their claims got crazier and crazier. I would read the stuff sometimes and wonder if there was anyone in the world stupid enough to believe it.
