I beginning to think that the ideal would be Bush on foreign policy and a libertarian like Larry Elder on domestics. Except for some releif for business regulations Bush is just like the dems on domestic policy. On the terrorism and natl defense issues I'm certainly glad Gore or Harry browne is not president.

OTOH He will get reelected unless we see bread lines and chaos in Iraq.

Well, one thing that would sooth my conscience is the fact that if there is a Republican majority in the house and senate, and Dean ends up winning, the Republicans likely won't allow all the socialist programs to get through since it would be a democrat wanting it instead of a republican president. They'll be yes men to Bush, but I don't think they would be to a democrat. The two would balance each other out. And no, I'm not going to vote for Dean. Although, if we could get the yes men out instead of having to out the president, I'm all for that too.

My point was that you neglected demographics. Nowhere do you mention any such thing.

"Landru, you have caught me quite by surprise."

I'm not resposible for your state of mind. (tpaine taught me that...)

"Was it not you who admonished me to see things as they really are, to think with my head and not my heart?"

Yea, it was me alright.
But you're taking [that] out of context, you raskel.
My admonishment was that of a conservative to a [former] Liberal, with all that implies.
I mean for example, there was nothing Clinnocio did during his 8 year reign of terror I could rationalize, no matter how I twisted; whereas, Liberals had no problem justifing the sot regardless of what he did.
Remember?

"I would admonish you to also vote with your head as well as your conscience."

Thank you.
I will, am, always do.

"Do not choose to aid and abet the enemy with your 'principled stand'."

Yea, but exactly who's the *enemy* seems to be what the argument's all about here too, eh?

I love ya man, but you really have to make a hair appointment asap, because your Liberal roots are showing; if, you preferred I fought an enemy with an unprincipled stand.

...eh?

you really have to make a hair appointment asap . . .

LOL! {ouch!}

I'm, at best, ten steps into my twelve-step de-liberalization program. Yet, even I can recognize the looming danger here. It is clear as the harsh light of day, on some of the other boards (LP & PBN to name but a few). Die-hard conservatives (of which I someday hope to become) are mad as hell over the perceived slights of the current administration. Mad enough to cast their votes elsewhere.

Herein lies the danger. An ultraconservative candidate could (and most likely will) run as an Independent, siphoning off votes that would otherwise be cast for the Republican party. These votes, entered as a protest, could very well swing the outcome of the election. Remember Ross Perot?

The justifiable protests will have been made, resulting in a Democrat garnering the Presidency. The net result will be a headlong plunge into Socialism with a capital S from which the country will likely never recover.

You know as well as I do the Democratic voting base is energized as never before. The visceral hatred toward GWB by the Democrats is like nothing we've ever seen. Heretofore intelligent people (neighbors, coworkers, etc.) are having their thought processes paralyzed by this hatred; they simply no longer see reality. Misled by their own hatred, they do not recognize propaganda as such. Look at how many simply refuse to let go of the "selected" president canard, no matter how many variants of the recount they're shown.

This is a dangerous time. The upcoming election is by no means a done deal. A protest vote by conservatives in November will kill conservatism; never mind the Republican party.

If you're conscience puts Howard Dean in the White

That was your moronic post. Do you have similar
sentiments on my conscience putting John Kerry in the
White House? If so let's meet and you can go to it.
You made the challenge so I get the choice of weapons.
I choose katanas. Email if you are still interested. I
am.
By the way, I'm the best damn troll on Free Republic.
Conservative not socialist. Some trollhunter are you?
Why have we never met? Maybe because you're the
typical moron that has taken over Free Republic since
1999 and you could spot a real troll he was posting to
you. Jim Rob, Free Republic and I go way back...before
you had even heard of Free Republic I was registered
there and posting. I'll be on Free Republic tonight
for short time tonight, and I'll be Liberty Post.Org
at the Biker Bar at eight o' clock. If you don't feel
like a physical meeting an online one will do. Or are
you too cowardly even for that?
I'm around and I'll be back to haunt you and Jim Rob
and Free Republic if Bush loses.
