Katherine Harris Planning US Senate Run
Drudge ^

Watch your makeup compact, Hillary, Florida's Katherine Harris may have her eyes on the United States Senate, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

MORE

Against the apparent wishes of senior Bush strategists, Harris has decided in her heart and mind that she will seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat, sources close to Harris tell DRUDGE.

"She wants it, wants it badly!" a top source said Thursday. "She'll make her decision public within the next week."

The source, who has daily contact with Harris, cautions the congresswoman still could hold back and not make the run, in deference to the president and his brother's wishes.

Sarasota County's GOP chairman, Tramm Hudson, said he spoke to Harris Tuesday night and that she seemed ready to run, according to reports. Harris continues to be one of the party's top fund-raisers.

Elsewhere, Texas Senator Kay Hutchison has reportedly advised her republican counterpart to "Go for it!"

If elected Harris would join a select group of women ever to serve in the United States Senate.

MORE Harris advisers dispel any notion that bad blood still runs in Florida over Harris's role in the 2000 election drama.

"Look, Governor Bush handily won re-election last year, after 2000, and the state's voters did not punish him," notes one top Harris strategist who asked not to be named.

"And they will not punish Katherine. The senate campaign will be on the issues, and electing the best person to represent Florida in the senate!"

Reagan regretted the 1986 amnesty legislation he signed into law. Bad policy. Bad decision. As time passed we all knew it wasn't working. It makes no sense at all, to repeat the same mistake again. Wouldn't you agree, Luis, or do you support amnesty and open borders too?

There is no amnesty, but yours is a textbook example of the propaganda techniques used by most leftists...a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth.

An Amnesty would not have a limit on the length of time these people would be allowed to remain here, but don't let the facts get in the way of your hysteria.

By the way, Reagan granted illegal aliens living in the U.S. an unconditional amnesty, are you saying that Reagan was an idiot?

"Just do the right thing, Mr. Prez, and let the chips fall where they may."

The right thing according to who?

I believe that he is doing the right thing.

Seeing her certify the Florida election results in 2000 on TV and without comment was an emotional moment for me. The only sound was the scratching of the pen.

The rule of law in action.

You're rhetoric is random crap.

First off, I'm no liberal, but since you do support the Bush proposal, I'd say you're showing your liberal or libertarian colors.

Secondly, PresBush is excusing an offense without exacting a penalty, by granting legal status to illegal aliens. That's called a pardon. Bush is the authority granting this pardon to a large group of individuals. That's called amnesty.

Your third point, I already answered.

I don't remember PresReagan coming out in support of PresBush`s proposal and for good reason.

Harris did very poorly in that district in that electoral climate. Harkening back to how Bush did in the same district in a Dem-leaning year in Florida is an irrelevancy and makes no point to support your argument. Governor Bush did considerably better than Harris there (same year, same voters). The fact the NRCC had to get involved to help her in that district doesn't say much for her campaign skills.

In a sense, I'd love to see Harris run and win concurrently with Bush in Florida. That'd certainly stick a needle in the eye of the liberals. But, it's not a very favorable scenario and not one I would risk.

"I don't remember PresReagan coming out in support of PresBush`s proposal and for good reason."

That's funny, don't know how to get out of this one, do you?

There are lots of people reading this thread, just chuckling at your spinning around the question here.

If anything can actually be said about the Bush proposal, is that it is more modest, and less generous than the Reagan amnesty, in fact, Bush's is not an amnesty at all.

You call people who support Bush's plan idiots, and wear the name of the man after who Bush crafted this idea.

Reagan granted amnesty, and people who support amnesty are idiots according to you, so, in your opinion, Reagan is an idiot, and you call yourself Reagan Man.

1+1=2

You're late to the party little kitty. We've already had this discussion. Your point has been discredited and your opinion is wrong.

Not on this thread it hasn't been, if anywhere.

Choosing to ignore statistics doesn't mean they don't exist. Unless the numerical data was wrong, you haven't discredited anything. The facts are what they are.

Not for those who had the misfortune of watching Dan Rather...from what I understand he was talking over it and saying "the votes are certified for Bush as the Republican secretary of state Katherine Harris sees it and decrees it."

Apparently you feel you're entitled to your own set of facts. Is that a Kentucky thing? What was it that my hero Steve Spurrier said when the library at UK burned down? "Now what are they going to do with all those coloring books?"

Ok. Go back to your boss at the Betty Caster campaign and tell her you need a more complete education on elections before she sends you again to do battle with adults.

I realize this was in response to a remark you probably found to be innappropriate, but that aside, dismissing JohnnyZ's political analysis on this or other races as kids stuff is absurd. He knows his politics.
